1  my first poppet in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by snooky on: December 03, 2008 12:07:32 AM
I posted some pics of her in the craftalong but here she is with her new clothes.
She is a shy girl, and still is unnamed because she is a christmas gift for my 3 years old girl. I am sure she will have a name and a story to tell as soon as we come back from the christmas familly gathering.

Anyway, she wears some flare legs pants, a sleeveless coat and an empire top which I modified a bit: large sleeves and some elastic on the top, because she is a young one without breasts Smiley.... She seems to be rather shy, despite her wild hair. I braided teh front one in order to show her little face. I love the look of her face, she seems shy and curious. I am sure my lil one will loooove her...

Here is the star! The pics are dark because I had to wait for my girl to fall asleep to take them... not THAT easy!

she waves to say hello

she sits peacefully, even though she started to be fed up by the flash...

a last one, posing.

I still have to make her shoes or sleepers, and I have some other clothes cut to make... as well as her sister tween, but purple.... to be continued!

I truly looooooooved the dragon poppet.. It's so cute !!!

Here I worked hard while my lil one was sleeping ( and it's midnight now....)
But I am done!!

Well... for now...

here she is, all dressed (and she likes it better !)

empire top, flared legs pants and a coat without sleeves.
She was tired because I had a hard time getting her dressed so she sat...

The coat is completely lined witht he same fabric than her top, so it's reversible.
then she wanted to remove her coat to show you all her beautiful top:

I am going to make her another top ( but not tonight !!) with wider sleeves because this one is so tight ! My lil one won't be able to get her dressed! Maybe an update tomorrow!

Here she is, my first poppet!

Thank you so much Ghillie for this wonderful pattern. thanks to you, I will be able to offer my daughter a special gift, something made with love, expecially for her. We went through very bad times this year, and I wanted her to have something special for christmas... As I looked on the internet to find inspiration, I discovered the poppets and became obsessed by the idea of making one... A dream came true.

I was finishing her hair at school today and my fellow teachers couldn't believe I made it myself. It will be my daughter's, so she doesn't have a name yet. She's good at giving name and telling stories about her dolls and stuffies.  I didn't do the clay nose, and she sure has a LOT of hair... Both curled and straight... So do we, my lil one and I ! I will have to put something in her neck to allow her head to be straight because of the weight of the wig.
She sure isn't perfect, but I learned a lot making her. And I can't wait to start to make her sisters. But now, I want to make her some clothes and I started to  look through all the wonderful pattern craftwoman sent me.

4  some of my softies (Update with PICS) in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by snooky on: November 09, 2008 07:17:07 AM
I edited my post... careful, looooooooooong

some were made a loooong time ago, and some are new... meet my lil one friends:

When pregnant, I felt the need to make a bunny softy to my baby... I couldn't find a pattern I liked... so I made my own one, mixing ideas. I decided to make one for everytbody in the familly.... my brother had one, his girlfriend too, my sister, my mother in law... Since then, my baby bunny dies, and we are now with the 3rd version of it.

here it is:

he's my daughter's best friend. He went through hard times lately, being burned by a nasty light bulb, being hurt by a nasty scratch... But it's ok... He now wears appliqu hearts on his head and some flowery colourful device on his belly. Unlike his siblings, he won't go for a long trip around the world. He is the last one of his kind.
As he was hurt, he was the best one to help my daughter when she broke her collarbone... you can see him in action :

Aside from the bunnies, I made some flowers....

this one is now happy with a baby girl who lives in the middle of the Alps mountains...

then at the end of my pregnancy, I went crazy... and after 2 months, I ended with having these. They are all hand made, no sewing machine then....

some of them are my own pattern, sych as the flower, the bunny and this little one: Bubble

she is a cuddle fish... The kind of fish you just want to hug and kiss... She knows it and shows her flower and her big kissing lips to anybody willing to enter my daughter's bedroom. She feeds of kiss you know, that's why

My daughter is now 3 and a half. And she is scared by witches... last years, I changed her halloween witch hat into a whimsical one, with metallic pens and drew some butterflies and flowers on it...
This year, I decided to make her a non scary witch... and went crazy again and made another one to one of her friends....

here they are.

Both of them decided to step out of the box and to show their true self, which is colourful and kind. She are fed up with all those whitches feature you can find everywhere. They live in lala land and are proud of it. And the two girls they played with agreed: yes they are witches, but they are nice.

those witches are not my own design. i found them on a french blog. If anyone is interested, I can give them the link....

I now have far less time than I used to to make softies, but I often look at my craft area with tingles in the hands... so with a little better organization, I am sure I can find some time to go on with my softy frenzy ....
