11  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Scrapbook Cookbook Round 2 [Send Oct. 31st] on: October 07, 2008 07:55:10 AM
I've had a set-back! My camera, with the food pictures on the memory card, was stolen from my house about a week ago. Stolen is the only option. My roommate and I had friends over last weekend and some people I didn't know were here. I had the camera out, and now it is gone. I've spent the past week scouring my house for it and questioning everyone who was here, but I fear I'll never see it again.

I'm going to have to do some maneuvering, but hopefully I won't be sending late. I hope Cheebz doesn't hate me too much, but there might not be many photos of meals in her book.

Ugh, my sewing skills are HORRIBLE! How does one go from pants to a dress??? How is that even possible!?

You don't even know how much I love that dress.

You all are really, really fast. I'm still gathering recipes. I feel incompetent.

yeah, I wouldn't worry, sometimes there are entire weekends where I don't even get on the internet or only have time to check my email.
Good Luck!
15  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Uhh... 400 unused Chinese takeout boxes ? on: September 10, 2008 06:23:47 PM
Have an Asian themed party, and use them for goody bags? I once saw a post somewhere where someone had a 'learn to knit party' and each guest got one of these, filled with white yarn with knitting needles stuck in, so it looked like lo mein with chopsticks. I mean, that won't take care of all 400 unless you have a ton of friends, but it might whittle them down a bit.

That looks really similar to the winning dress on the Levi's challenge on Project Runway. Was it inspired by that?

Actually it was inspired by a dress from anthropologie.  It's no longer on sale, sorry I can't link you the picture.  It was this red and white babydoll dress with a low collar and a button placket going down the the waist.
Thanks everyone for your amazing feedback! I'm so happy you guys like it :-)

That's hilarious! You should look at the last winning design from Project Runway. It is very, very similar. I wonder if his dress was inspired by the same that yours was?

20  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: How can I make this scarf without DPNs? on: October 01, 2007 10:38:29 AM
Um, I didn't actually READ the pattern, so I might be way off here, but you could knit it on straights and just seem it up one side?  I don't know if that would affect the color work or not.

The thing is, that pattern would be very difficult knitting straight with all the color work. I dare say it would be MUCH more difficult than trying out DPN's. Smiley
