22  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Anyone seen Cotton Ease in stores? on: February 02, 2007 11:36:30 AM
No info on Cotton Ease but I thought I'd share this with you.
I understand about the fear of buying on line - BUT! I saw a commercial yesterday for a visa card that you put money on like a gift card. This way you can shop on line and not worry about that info being linked to your credit card or debit card. The commercial stated they're sold at Walgreens and a few other stores (I think Meijers?)

26  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Have you dyed your project after you've finished knitting it? on: November 17, 2006 08:56:39 AM
I'm very much into green lately and I want to knit up a sweater that goes from cream to green, has anyone ever tried that? I was thinking of knitting up the sweater and placing one half in a tub to dye it and hoping that some of the green will seep up into the sweater so it looks faded not just a solid green section & a solid white section... Any thoughts would be wonderful!!
27  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: LYS Stories - All Sides on: November 16, 2006 10:28:35 AM
The first class I took by Lunasblue:
Night 1 - everyone was super nice! They even ignored the fact that my friend and I smelled like wine & smiled a little too much Smiley
Night 2 - very warm night so I wore a sleeveless shirt. No problem with that except I have a very large tattoo on my left arm and display it proudly when I can... no one talked with me all night...
Night 3 - Had to pick a project & was laughed at when I chose to make a scarf! LAUGHED AT!!!
Then I look around and 4 of the 8 people in our class had chosen to make a scarf and they weren't laughed at, they were encouraged. Why were they encouraged and not me?
Was it cuz I laughed at them when they said I should make a poncho (12 skeins) out of this "wonderful" yarn that was $6.88 a skein? Could it be they didn't like my Chicago accent? Who knows! So, we finished up our classes and I never went back.
Moral of the story?
1)Show off any tattoos you have
2)It's your money, never let them make you feel small.
If all else fails, mention that on Yahoo, if you look up yarn stores in your area, they list the stores & reviews from people that have been in their store!!!
