3  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 21 ENTRIES / Ouija Board Notebook / Journal on: October 04, 2007 10:41:50 AM
This is the Ouija Board notebook that I made for DropDeadSuzie
for a Board Game swap that just finished.  I used all the pieces... both the board AND the oracle  Tongue ... wow... a Parker Brothers game with just 2 pieces.... what a stretch.... but you can't say I didn't use everything  LOL  Cheesy

Here's a pic of the front.  I bound the sides with a thick seam binding because for the life of me, I couldn't find book binding tape.  But it worked.  I drilled in hinges & polished off the ends where the screws stuck out with my Dremel (tip: wear goggles & long sleeves... metal shavings are HOT)

I lined the inside with Scrabble Paper & attached the oracle, which I lined with a cool game piece fabric, & wa-la... instant pencil holder.  I recycled an old notebook 3 ring part & again drilled that in & Dremeled off the excess screw parts (Again... I wish I was wearing sleeves)

Here are some better shots that DropDeadSuzie had taken...

4  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Old 8 Track Tapes on: August 11, 2007 07:01:48 AM
Any ideas on what to do with old 8 track tapes?  I found a TON of them at my parents house & "convinced them" that they wouldn't be able to listen to them anymore...I mean c'mon...  So now I have them & they are just sitting in a bag on my craft room floor.  Hmmmm.  I've already made cassette wallets with zippers & I plan to make a few with the 8 tracks... but what else?  I know that you creative crafty people out there will come to my rescue.  Don't you just HATE creative block?  Tongue  I was thinking "Clutch Purse"  but they are a wee bit too small.  Help................  Undecided

GirlBrett is Angel-ing for both of our Pin-Up fans.  What good Karma she shall rec'v.  Grin  Thanx so much for the help.

C'mon all you Kats & Kitties... I saw all you lurkers  Wink  and everyone who missed the sign-ups...this is your chance to put your pin-up knowledge to the test and make some goodies for these two pin-up fans.  Here's a little info on them:

Name: PirateKisses
Favorite Pin-up Girl / Artist: Varga, of course, Bettie Paige (but tame pics only, I am not into that rough and rowdy stuff)
Favorite Colors: purple, red, blue
Not-So-Favorite Colors: pukey colors, pastels
Things you'd like to receive: A pin up girl outfit, something military inspired so I can dress up for my boyfriend. I am planning on dressing like a pinup and taking pics to send to him (he's in the army). Racecar pinup stuff is good too
Things you can make: clothes, accessories, bags, trinkets
Clothing Size: right now I am an 8
Any additional notes for your partner: no dark themes, earrings, or things that are just too naughty please!

GirlBrett is Angel-ing for Beckster
Name: Beckster
Favorite Pin-up Girl / Artist:  I like most pin up chic artists, I guess I don't know their names...I don't really care for Vargas style pin ups tho!  Of course, you can't go wrong with good 'ol Bettie Page!  I think pin ups in the kitchen are fun too, I think it's safe to say I like ALL pin ups!
Favorite Colors: I like all colors mostly, black is always good!
Not-So-Favorite Colors: Pastels, but with pin up chicks I guess there ok.  Kinda hard to avoid.
Things you'd like to receive:  Anything, as long as you put your heart into it, I will like it!
Things you can make:  I can knit, glue, paint things, decoupage...pretty much anything!  I can even sew when I am inspired!
Clothing Size:  large
Any additional notes for your partner:  I like a lot of stuff, my myspace and wist should help.  Nothing is sacred, so please feel free to ask me anything if you need to!

Thanx in advance.

ShaynaYasha
6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Recon Train Case on: June 15, 2007 06:59:46 AM
Here's another item I gave in a swap & figured you may enjoy peeping at (at least I hope so)  Undecided  I've been making these for years.  I LOVE the idea of using old train cases when traveling.  I scour the thrft shops & Goodwill & pick 'em up whenever I come across them.  Of course I didn't take before pics *slaps self on forehead*  but image an ugly 70's mustard yellow case...yeah...that's it... And this is what I ended up with.

Sorry for the blurry pic.  My partner was into skulls & piratey things...

The back.

The inside top... I swear those elastics are even... Just a bad angle

And the inside side & bottom.

There you have it.  Grin  Thanx for peeping  Shocked
7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Anime / Manga Totes on: June 15, 2007 06:45:49 AM
I made these for a swap I was in & figured I'd show them off here.  I made this "Jumbo" tote & lunchbag using manga that I colored in specific spots, laminated, stiched & rivited to the bags I made.  Hope you enjoy taking a peek  Shocked

This is the Jumbo tote.

And a close up of said tote.

Here's the lunch bag

And the inside filled with some of the swap goodies.

Sign-up date range: April 19th thru May 3rd
Date to send item by: June 4th, 2007

Limited to a certain number of people? (optional): Nope

Restricted to people who all live in the same country? NO
If so, which country?   All are welcome

All ages allowed? Or 18+? Absolutely.  (Craftsters under 16 will require parental permission)

Swap Organizer himself/herself meets these conditions:
- Has fully read the Swap Info Guide: YES
- Has successfully completed two swaps as a participant: YES
- Is not organizing more than three swaps right now: YES
- Will recruit a co-organizer or give all details to a Swap Moderator if this swap has more than 25 participants: YES

Swap Organizer will check each participant to make sure they meet these conditions:
- Has been a member for at least one month: YES
- Has posted at least 15 times: YES
- Has completed one swap successfully before signing up for multiple swaps at a time: YES
- Is not currently signed up for more than five swaps: YES
- Does not have any negative feedback: YES

Details of swap:

I'm using some of the rules from qazicats Round 2 swap...

Make one large(time consuming) item & 2 medium or 4 small items .  Anything to do with pin-up girls, mudflap girls, burlesque dancers, sexy retro women.  Extras are permitted but make sure you  communicate with your partner if you plan on sending extra items.  We don't want anyone feeling as if they got the bad end of the deal.

Need some inspiration?  Check out these great galleries from the 1st & 2nd rounds:

Gallery 1: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=45442.0
Gallery 2: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=97160.0

Additionally, I'm using some of PinkMafia's rules:

1. If this is your first swap please read: (http://www.craftster.org/swapsinfo.html) to find out how to ship your item and other details about participating in a swap.

2. You must post on this thread. A simple I'm in! or whatever will suffice. This is so I'm certain you get all messages.

3. I will be giving feedback in the following way:

great swapper- for those who follow all the rules.
Did not thank partner or pm organizer when package was received- for those with bad manners
Poor communication- if you don't respond to my PMs but have been logging on to craftster
Shipped Late (w/ poor communication, or if over 1 week late w/ or w/out communication)

4. Please put "PIN-UP GIRL SWAP 3" in the title of all PMs

5. Delivery Confirmation Numbers (DC#) will be required for swap packages that are being sent within the United States.  I'm will be pretty firm about this rule!  If you're sending a package to another country, or if you don't reside in the United States, please save your receipts!  Remember to send the DC# info to your swap partner(s) and the organizer.

7.  It is important to communicate with your partners and the organizer.  When you have received, please remember to inform your partner and the organizer!  If you are late, you need to pm your partner and the swap organizer ASAP.  You are still responsible for sending out the swap package in a timely manner!  A blatant disregard for deadlines will result in a "sent late" comment in your swap profile.

8. I will send reminder PMs to check on your progress, this will help people avoid flaking. If you have any concerns or questions, PM me rather than just dropping out. If you and your partner have problems let me know so we can organize something.  If i do not hear from you, you will likely receive negative feedback for poor communication. Lets make this a flake free and fun swap.

Please do not sign up if you can't fulfill the requirements of this swap

Ta-Da   Cheesy

See that really great Skull sweater in the background... That used to fit me, but my "Mothers Helper" put it in the dryer & now it's hers  Cry  Can that be considered a reconstruction?   Wink
