3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Need Help!! Gift for home ec. teacher. on: December 12, 2006 04:34:28 PM
Ok so i need some help please!! I work at a crafty store and we're doing secret santa, part of the rules is that we have to make the gift. I got this new lady who works there part-time, she also works at a high school as a home ec (sp?) teacher. Since she's new i dont really know her (i've worked with her once) so i dont know her likes and dislikes. And since she's a home ec teacher she knows how to make pretty much everything. I think she's probably in her 50's. I also think she's retiring from teaching after this school year

Here are my ideas, i was trying to think of something different that she hadn't seen made before. (well except #2)

Idea #1:
Gift basket with homemade hot cocoa mix (in a milk jug bottle) two coffee cups (clear glass with etchings on them) two coffee inspired fabric napkins and these melted star peppermint things i make.

Idea #2
Go totally generic and make her like a tote bag. I'm thinking denim fabric with red gingham lining with a red gingham flower appliqued on the outside.

Idea #3
A melted bead bowl and something to go with it i have no idea what though.

So do you guys think any of these are good ideas. And do you have any other ideas that wont take very long (1 hour max)?

Thanks for your help!!! Grin

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Flip Flop Tote on: May 16, 2006 10:52:03 AM
This is a tote I made for my stepmother for her birthday, she loves stuff with flip-flops on it. I added the sequines on the flipflop straps, the handles are ribbon that i buttoned onto the bag. She loves it, she uses it for her knitting. Sorry the pic isnt that great.

6  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Our Crafty Area (lots of pics) on: May 14, 2006 01:26:06 PM
This is my sis Kendaljay and my craft area. We used to have our own crafting areas in our bedrooms but got sick of crafting alone and not being able to use eachothers stuff as easily, so we turned half our living room into a craft room. These are pics of how it looks right now all messy. We still have some more stuff we want to do to it, like put a curtain across to close it off when we arent using it, and hang pictures and that kind of stuff (we'll show pics when it's totally finished too)

This is the wide shot (my area is the really messy side on the right  Undecided)

This is a close up of the shelf. Kendaljay did most of the organizing, as you can tell by my desk i'm not great at organizing.

This is a better pic of my side you can see my fabric drawers here which are also really messy.

This is Kendaljays side less messy.

7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My Ghetto Tote **New Ghetto Tote** on: May 13, 2006 06:17:57 PM
This is my first post in like freakin forever. Yay I'm Back!!!

This is my ghetto-fabulous tote bag. I saw a bag sorta like it at old navy, it had more writing stuff. There's embroider from the sublime stitching stitch it kit, the background (done with crayola fabric markers) wasnt intended to be so filled but i had taken some cold medicine and went a little crazy, but i like it that way. Hope you like.

This is a pic of the kick butt lining i looove this fabric!

Here is another ghetto tote that my sis (kendaljay) and I made for our mom for mothers day. We did hers more shabby chic-ish. She loved it.
8  Texas / Texas: North Central / Scrapbooking convention coming to texas on: March 29, 2005 10:01:48 AM
Hi I just thought i'd be a little walking advertisement for the Great American Scrapbooking Convention! hehe Grin They will be in San Antonio April 15th and 16th and in Arlington June 9-11.

Last year my sis (kendaljay) and I went when it was in San Antonio and had a blast. We only took one class, we wish we took more, and it was so much fun. You get lots of free stuff in the class, and learned some new things. I'm not that much into scrapbooking but i learned lots for card making and stuff too. The convention is fun to walk around too and you can get so many ideas from the booths.

We're going to the Arlington one this year, it would be fun for us craftsters to meet up at the cropping party or something.
