What is E6000?  I never heard of it. And by the way very unique.  I love them.

really strong glue, you can get it at craft stores, hardware stores, and probably the grocery store.

So there are knots on the bottoms of the shoes?

not exactly, the knots go into the holes in the bottom, so the bottom is totally flat  Wink

How did you affix the ribbon to the sole?

your flip flops have to have straps that go all the way through to the bottom. then, after i cut off the plastic straps, i just ran my ribbon through the holes and tied it really tight then put E6000 on it to fill up the hole around the knot. Does that make since?   Undecided

Thanks guys for the nice comments, i wore the sailor ones the other day and they are super comfy (sometimes my flip flops hurt where the strap meets the base but these don't at all Yay!!) and are holding up well.

Hiya I haven't posted anything in a while so i thought I'd post these flip flops i recon'd. The first two i left the center toe thingy in place...

for my sister she loves blue and green!

My fav, kinda 80's retro-ish, to me at least  Wink

These i took off the whole strap and toe thingy......

very sailor like, I'm totally into nautical stuff right now

These aren't totally finished i wanna add some little purple buttons on the side, but i didn't have any yet.

Hope you guys like, they were super fun to make!!

10  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Need Help!! Gift for home ec. teacher. on: December 12, 2006 04:34:28 PM
Ok so i need some help please!! I work at a crafty store and we're doing secret santa, part of the rules is that we have to make the gift. I got this new lady who works there part-time, she also works at a high school as a home ec (sp?) teacher. Since she's new i dont really know her (i've worked with her once) so i dont know her likes and dislikes. And since she's a home ec teacher she knows how to make pretty much everything. I think she's probably in her 50's. I also think she's retiring from teaching after this school year

Here are my ideas, i was trying to think of something different that she hadn't seen made before. (well except #2)

Idea #1:
Gift basket with homemade hot cocoa mix (in a milk jug bottle) two coffee cups (clear glass with etchings on them) two coffee inspired fabric napkins and these melted star peppermint things i make.

Idea #2
Go totally generic and make her like a tote bag. I'm thinking denim fabric with red gingham lining with a red gingham flower appliqued on the outside.

Idea #3
A melted bead bowl and something to go with it i have no idea what though.

So do you guys think any of these are good ideas. And do you have any other ideas that wont take very long (1 hour max)?

Thanks for your help!!! Grin
