21  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / drab bench to fab!!! on: August 18, 2008 02:51:15 PM
So we bought a house and the previous owner left this bench behind on the front porch that looked really bad, yellowing, faded the works, so I decided to stain it and repaint it. here's some pics. enjoy

I started taking it apart before I remembered to take pics so this is it on it's side, with the top boards already taken off

gross yellowing of the paint/faded boards

wood all stained!

my hubby helping me reconstruct!

and finally my brand new beautiful bench. I used dark brown stain on the wood, and a stone look spray paint on the metal part.

22  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / hungry bum syndrome :P on: July 09, 2008 06:28:59 PM
Hey guys, so I'm almost finished making some awesome capri pants for summer but for some reason every time I make pants I get the hungry bum syndrome (rides up my bum) I'll post some pics tomorrow.

I was wondering if there was a way to fix this on a finished garment? The fabric I used is stretchy east to west on the back, instead of north to south. I'm thinking interfacing? I really have no clue on how to stop it from riding up.
23  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / My first commissioned hat! on: July 01, 2008 04:34:54 PM
So I made my husband a beanie for Christmas and he wears it non stop. Well the other week at work one of his coworkers said she wanted one in green but bigger around and farther down on her head.

She was suppose to buy the wool herself but never did and keeps asking him where her hat is, so I decided to go ahead and make her one anyways, if she doesnt like it I'll find someone that does.

Here she be! I'm so proud\
me wearing it

on my dog Tongue

It's not really wonky in real life but my head isnt round... the dreads make it a weird shape Tongue

Hope she likes it, what do you think?

24  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Vintage lamp, turned beautiful on: June 08, 2008 01:37:45 PM
I have had this lamp ever since I was a little girl. It has always been right beside my bed as a child and when I first moved out my father gave it to me.

It has been.... not the prettiest thing in the world so yesterday I looked at it and said.. it's time.

So I repainted it and redid the shade and here it is!

and light on, was bright so itdownt make a huge difference but it gives off a very nice glow

And here she was before, I forgot to take pics right away but the second pic shows the oh so pretty gold ricrac and ribbon that was around the bottom and top

What do you think? Comments are appreciated!
25  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Marco Phototography! on: April 21, 2008 06:52:38 AM
Hello everyone! I havnt submitted much of my work in the past but I thought I would try out now and see what you all think.

This photo was taken in my home town of Saint John, NB. We have a loyalist burial ground in the uptown area of the city where the loyalists were buried hundreds of years ago.

I decided to enter this perticular photo in honor of those before me.

26  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Kirsten and Her RunWay Outfit (IMG obese) on: March 16, 2008 10:23:21 AM
Kirsten is my very first poppet and I saw it fit to show her off in her new outfit!

She is adorning a beautiful long large print jacket with a pom pom hem, a lace strap body suit brought back from the 80's with a bit of a revamp and a custom made coffee bean necklace.

Ok anyone with info on how to upload cell phone pictures to this site would be great.... but for now you have a description haha

So 1boy1girl1kitty2 and I are doing a personal swap and my side of the deal was to make her baby girl a dress, which I did, but my cam died so I can't take pictures of it Sad

I got a little anxious and made her some pants too, I hope the fit and everything!

I did get a front pic of the pants before the doom of the batteries

I hope she likes them! And the dress too!

30  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Crochet Hook and Knitting needle Roll on: November 23, 2007 09:30:13 AM
Ok so I really needed something to hold my knitting needles and crochet hooks cause every time I went to find one it would take me forever to locate it in my wip bag or where never.

So I made this! It's not perfect, for some reason it's kinda lop sided, this is what i get for actually trying to iron down my sides to make them straight, never again will i do this Tongue

Here are some pics.

All rolled up!

front (outside) as you can see it's kinda crooked  Undecided oh well! You;d think I've never sewn before Tongue
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y91/irish_chicky/HPIM1408.jpg
outside again, i was trying to get a good pic of the fabic, u can sorta see past the kitty that decided he wanted his pic taken instread
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y91/irish_chicky/HPIM1409.jpg
inside, cute monkey fabric and brown fabric

closeup
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y91/irish_chicky/HPIM1411.jpg
And with stuff in it, not everything, just what I could find... hence the one knitting needle and not two Grin
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y91/irish_chicky/HPIM1412.jpg
The pocket you see to the far right is for a needle book, which i am in the process of making! and the other pocket of the same size is for a sketch book, I like to sketch out what I am makinging before I make it.. unless I have an actual pattern.

What do u think?
