okay, i call playing cards "trump" ... i think i spent too much time in japan... anyway, i threw this bowl and glazed it myself. this is the only good piece of pottery i've thrown so far. it's in blue and purple, two of my favorite colors! i have allways loved playing cards and tarot cards. for this bowl, i picked playing cards as the theme because the imagery of the suits is simpler than that of tarot.
what are your thoughts on the concept and the final product itself?
this necklace i made for my mom for mother's day a few years back. she lost a necklace in the sea one year and i decided to make her one that is remnant of the sea! i found the oyster shell in a shop here in NC and felt inspired. there are plenty of beads including some gold dolphins... i guess you could say that Lassen would be proud! i (stupidly) had it on fine string (which broke) and i restrung it (as it is now) on cable wire (or that's what i think it's called...) i have both sides of the shell shown, by the way.
anyway, nautical craftsters, let me know what you think about my design and my concept with this necklace, please!
these are photos of my "chandelier tiara" and matching earings. i made them today. it took about 3 hours for all pieces combined. they are made of silver-colored copper wire, glass beads, and cast... some kind of metal... pieces (for the hearts and the chandelier bits). it was loosely inspired by the vivienne westwood orb that my friend kiwii gave to me (photo also included). this one's for you, kiwii! oh, and also for janna, the power-walking princess! <3 oh, and my panda's a tiara model!
