I just recieved from the wonderful hngoodlett. She included thread, one of which is rainbow(I never knew of such a thing!), beads, cotton stuffing, thick wire to make pendants, fleece to make animal shelter blankets/toys, cotton fabric (love the vintage santa with the birds)and some great printed damask and hello kitty flannel to make pjs out of. Love the package and I already made 4 large dog dummy toys from the navy fleece you sent!
I just finished making these large dummy toys for the larger dogs at the shelter from left over fleece and stuffing. The large dogs tend to go through the toys very quickly since they sit there the longest(puppies and small breeds always get adopted quicker) and these hold up real well in the washer.
Leftover scraps of fabric can be made into cat toys with feather or ribbon tails and fleece scraps can be braided into dog rope toys too! I work at a Humane Society and we make sure our animals always have a warm blanket and toy. Don't forget your childrens stuffed animals make great dog toys(not beanies though). Also thrift stores are great options for cheap fabric or blankets that can be cut down to make these individual blankies. Thanks for your generousity TheMistressT! The shelters need all the help we can give during these tough economic times. We've seen our record breaking intakes of animals these past few months aswell at my work place. Just gotta make them as comfortable as possible.
Love, love, love this thread! I work at a humane society and we have these blankets on our wish list for our cat and dog kennels and believe me we go through them. Like someone else mentioned, doesn't matter your skill: you can sew, crochet, knit, tie fleece blankets together or be a good thrifter that finds cheap blankets! It definitely beats an animal sleeping in a metal kennel or concrete floor. I've made catnip toys(with feather or ribbon tails) from scraps and also use leftover fleece to make braided dog tug toys. Every bit helps.
I recieved my items from the wonderful skaborsk today. She made me a red fashion scarf from a tshirt which i love and wearing right now. It can be worn single or double layered. She also made lip balm and hand scrub. Thanks a bunch!
I would definitely wear that hat just the way it is! Love the style and button accents. Buttons make anything cuter. rockmygypsysoul - I would love to try your detergent(and recipe included would rock!) mlsocci74 - the penny necklace is very unique! edi22 - I love cowls!
I've been dying to enter my first SSS after stalking many gallerys. The last round was absolutely beautiful and wish I could've gotten some of that great stuff. Not sure what I'll be crafting... maybe something for ones pets like: cantip toys, fleece dog toys, bandanas and people get to choose based on what pet they have. Or I can sew scrap fabric scarfs(patch work style).
Love the modern revamp and recycling idea! I should have some spare containers to give this a try. I can always use more storage ideas and this looks like it would hold alot of pens in one spot. Thanks for posting!
