1  My local animal shelter is looking for donated craft items for their craft sale! in Crafty Charitable/Social Causes by snowyangel on: November 17, 2015 07:53:43 PM
Let me first say I've been working at this no-kill pet shelter for 6.5yrs and love my job. None of the animals have "expiration dates" and they stay till they find homes. They take in any breed and any age(they currently have an 11 yr lab up for adoption). Every year they have a "Howliday" craft and bake sale around christmas and are accepting ANY type of craft donation...human or pet related. Items would need to be received by Dec 11th (the sale is Dec 12th but they need time to price and organize) and are located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They can even mail you back a tax receipt for deductible donation. 100% of the proceeds benefit this local shelter. They are not associated with Humane society of the United states, they are independent. See their website link here for more info:   http://www.sfhumanesociety.com/events.aspx?ViewEvent=18824

You can mail items directly to the shelter(3720 E Benson Road, Sioux Falls SD 57104). Any questions? I'm all ears. I've personally made magnets, fleece tie blankets, pet mats, braided fleece dog toys, almond bark dipped bones, catnip toys, baby headbands, dog bandanas,  necklaces and kids bracelets as some ideas. Smiley

My favorite adult christmas gift? Wow that's a toughy...I thought it was funny when my dad(not always so creative) bought me a tall decorative curvy vase. The best part was how he wrapped it: tight in wrapping paper so it was obvious to everyone what it was, but to him it wasn't lol. A great xmas memory for sure. Smiley

5  My first Wreathe, Fall banner artwork and 2 stuffed pumpkins in Thanksgiving by snowyangel on: October 20, 2015 02:07:48 PM
Just worked these crafts up last weekend amongst my 2yr olds nap times. My first wreathe attempt using the ribbon weaving technique(or whatever you call it lol) and i plan to add bow and the letter T to it for our last name. I refuse to pay an outrageous amount for the pre-made ones in stores, ya know?
Opinions or tips?

I just recieved from the wonderful hngoodlett. She included thread, one of which is rainbow(I never knew of such a thing!), beads, cotton stuffing, thick wire to make pendants, fleece to make animal shelter blankets/toys, cotton fabric (love the vintage santa with the birds)and some great printed damask and hello kitty flannel to make pjs out of. Love the package and I already made 4 large dog dummy toys from the navy fleece you sent! Cheesy

I just finished making these large dummy toys for the larger dogs at the shelter from left over fleece and stuffing. The large dogs tend to go through the toys very quickly since they sit there the longest(puppies and small breeds always get adopted quicker) and these hold up real well in the washer. Smiley
