1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / picture frames decoupaged with fortunes on: December 10, 2003 02:28:06 PM
for a few of my friends' christmas presents, i'm making these.  all you need are some acrylic picture frames and a bunch of fortune cookies.  at my school's dining center you can get fortune cookies whenever you want, so i take one at every meal and save the fortunes.  then i look through them and find ones that pertain to the particular person.  then just position them around the edges of the frame, glue them down, and cover them with nail polish, mod podge, or any other clear adhesive.  unfortunately, i don't have any pictures, but you can probably figure out what they would look like.  to make the gift even more personalized, you can put a photo of you and the person you're giving it to in the frame.
2  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / DIY homemade magnetic poetry on: December 09, 2003 05:04:46 AM
to make my own magnetic poetry, i use the magnet strips that are about half an inch wide (they come rolled up in a sort of coil) and are sticky on one side.  then i just cut out words from magazines or newspapers and stick them to the magnets, cut them out, and cover with nail polish or mod podge to seal them on.  i made a whole set for myself with the words from the bottoms of delia's catalogue pages, and a set for my friend from campus newspaper headlines.  they make good presents!
