Awesome idea to use the doily!!!  I will have to remember that!
3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Whimsical Shrine Gallery on: Today at 05:13:42 PM
YAY - I was so afraid that some of the pieces may get snapped off - like the twigs or the basket.  I have a book I bought specifically for backgrounds (so hard as every book I picked I started to read a bit and could not stand the idea of tearing up - finally I grabbed a bargain bin book and did not even look at the description on the back).  I think it is a murder mystery and as I was inking it up for the background, one quote jumped out at me and it seemed kind of fitting for the piece and the feel I was going for so I tore it out and highlighted it for the back.  I think it says something like...

"You going into a dangerous place like that.  A little girl has been killed.  Do you understand what that means?"

I also have to admit to a bit of cheating - I tried sculpting all the pieces from resin clay, but some of them just turned out awful so I went with manufactured pieces.  I made the axe, the tree stump, the moon, but I bought the basket of fruit, the mushrooms, and found a mini birdhouse, which I redecorated to become Grandmom's phone.  Oh yes, and L'il Red is the upper portion of a princess doll that I re-purposed as well.   It was either that, or I was going to try to paint and resculpt a Punisher doll...

Ooooooh - I like that!  Great colours of yarn/fibers you used too.
6  Craft Swaps / ACTIVE SWAPS WHERE SIGN-UP PERIOD HAS CLOSED / Re: Crafted Notecards Round 3 (signups 7/14-7/24 sendouts August 15) on: July 26, 2014 10:08:15 AM
Hey fellow partners - I started.  I have 6 cards made so far!  However, they may not necessarily be the cards I send out.  Will have to see what else happens to churn my card making juices
7  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Re: Embroidery hoop question on: July 25, 2014 06:01:17 PM
So Coban/vet wrap should work then - it is stretchy, thin, and sticks to itself, but is not actually sticky to the touch.  I usually work with it in 2 inch thick rolls, but I think I have seen it in thinner rolls too.
8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Re: How do I get the glass out of this pocket watch cabochon? on: July 25, 2014 05:56:01 PM
Is it glued in?  If it is a type of glue holding it in, you could see if acetone may loosen it, if it is something like a krazy glue like adhesive or two part epoxy
9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Re: Is There A Sturdy Jewelry Glue That Seals Paper At The Same Time?? on: July 25, 2014 05:54:43 PM
I would probably try a 2 part resin.  But then you would need to seal the picture to prevent the resin from seeping into the paper fibers, which turns the paper translucent (think of like when paper gets oil on it).  Simply sealing it in clear tape will do.  I also had recent success with clear gel medium as a glue and seal as well, for paper goods under resin.
10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: I need some adhesive help! on: July 25, 2014 05:43:28 PM
What about a glue runner - like what they use for card making or paper crafting.  You can get it in thin 1/4" lines.  If you are adhering elements to pages/cards, I would also go with permanent glue dots - you can get them in very small sizes.
