1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / My first ATCs. on: October 08, 2013 11:40:16 AM
I have been away from Craftster for couple of years, and coming back here feels like coming home.

I've made paper crafts as long as I remember, but in September I made my first ATCs ever. And here they are. I was mostly playing with my inktense pencils, papers and my cute owl stamp. They were fun to make, and I think I might be hooked on these.

2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Mushroom Hats on: January 20, 2011 10:31:29 AM
Me and my sister made these hats in the summer, but I didn't post them here then.

My sister was going to see Lake of Tears with her friend and they wanted to wear mushroom hats, because the singer has one too. They're not very crafty, so they asked me if I could make them. I found a round hat pattern from a magazine and altered it a bit to make the hats wide enough. I made a practice version from an old bed sheet to see if the size and shape was right, and luckily the same size fit both of them. Then I went to fabric store and bought a piece of red corduroy, which was the only red fabric that felt sturdy enough. Then I just sew the hats. Last, but not least, my sister cut the white spots from felt and hand sew them on the hats. For me this was a quick and easy project, but my sister spent quite a while hand sewing.

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My First Wallets on: December 31, 2010 12:43:36 AM
I have lots of fabric scraps and I need small projects to use them. I thought wallets could be great, and I made three for Yule gifts. The red corduroy one was the first and I gave it to my mother. The others were for my sisters and since I had already practiced wallet making, I added some applique and machine embroidery on them.

Snap closure on the other side. The black fabric has gray roses on it, but you can't quite see them on the photo.

Opened wallets. Each of them have zippered pocket for coins and 6 slots for cards.

4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Recipe Swap round 2? on: October 28, 2010 02:19:11 AM
I was too busy to join round 1, but it looked like a fun swap. Would anyone be interested in round 2?
5  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Completed Projects / Aliens! on: May 31, 2010 01:03:05 PM
I painted this scarf with dyeing colour on wet fabric to make the edges misty. I'm very happy with the result. I had no idea that I could paint this well!

I also embroidered a crop circle inspired motif on one corner.

I will give the scarf to my sister for a graduation present. Here's she wearing the scarf. As you see, the aliens are hiding inside the scarf and nobody will know she's carrying aliens around her neck.

The scarf is supposed to match with the trousers I made her.
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Trousers for my sister on: May 31, 2010 12:49:08 PM
I made these trousers for my sister. They're stretchy corduroy.

From behind:

Zippers on the back of the legs.

Opening the zippers make the trouser legs a little wider.

Lasing on the sides.

Belt loops are decorated with eyelets.
7  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Maze Book of Love on: February 15, 2010 12:44:04 PM
I wanted to make a little Valentine's day surprise for my BF and I made him a book to tell him why I love him.

"Reasons why I love you" says the title. Each page has one reason and there are also two tags inside the pockets.

Usually I don't use much hand writing in my paper crafts, but in this book almost everything is hand written. I chose a lot of small things that makes me love him. Like that he always shows me movies that I don't think I'd even heard of if there wasn't him.

He taught me to love cats. I didn't even like cats when I met him, but now I don't think I could live without our cats.

He doesn't complain about my huge stash. Instead, he gives me more paper craft supplies when he sees something he thinks I could use. On the other hand, my paper stash is under control, I'm glad he doesn't give me fabric!
8  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Cards For My Friends on: February 08, 2010 11:58:44 AM
Here February 14th isn't only for lovers, actually celebrating friendship is more important. I made some cards for my friends.

The text means "for a friend".

Close up of the heart.
9  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Another Book for My Sister on: January 11, 2010 01:27:06 PM
Couple of days ago I posted a cook book I had made of Reader's Digest book. After I had made that, I thought that my sister might need a baking book too. So I made this, and gave it to her on Yule a year ago.

A cake index page. Made using rubber stamps, water colour, puzzle pieces and some random paper pieces.

A close up of the same page. Aren't those heart brads cute?

My favourite page in the book: bun/ plain coffee bread (pulla in Finnish) index page. After this page there are recipe for basic buns and several recipes for fillings.

Close up of the stamped tags. The glitter is embossing powder.

Another favourite of mine. Back ground is gift wrapping paper, couple of vintage pictures and recipes for swiss roll and apple and oat bake.

And the cover. The title means something like "Bakings".

All the pictures here represent sweet recipes, but there were also recipes for bread, pizza and savoury pies.
10  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Cook Book for My Sister on: January 07, 2010 01:56:50 PM
I made this cook book nearly two years ago and gave it to my sister as a graduation present, but I haven't had pictures until now. Back then my sister lived with our mother, but was about to move to live on her own, and I thought a cook book would be useful. She's omnivore, but since she likes vegetarian food and I don't know how to cook meat, I made a vegetarian book.

I used a Reader's Digest's book of shorter versions of novels, because nobody wants to read them. The title is "vegetarian food", but in colloquial language.

Some of the recipes are my own and some are from other cook books, magazines or internet.

I made couple of pages that are bigger than normal. When they're folded, they're same size as the other pages. The right page in the picture is folded and inside the green vellum envelope is a card with a salad dressing recipe. Left page is unfolded and you can see two sauce recipes. There's more sauces under the folded page.

I also used some of the pictures that were already in the book. On the left there's a recipe for carrot crepes with tofu and mushroom filling and on the right page the old man tells the cowboy how the recipe can easily be modified.

Some recipes are glued to the book and some are on cards or giant tags. I made pockets and envelopes for them.
