1  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Re: short n sweet bolero on: December 28, 2012 10:37:23 AM
No, you just repeat rows 2-8. You'll have to repeat rows 2-9 whenever it says to "work even in established pattern".

I have been away from craftster for a while and didn't read all the 200+ new pages. But I have made couple of things.

1. Wallet for me
2. Wallet for a friend (Birthday in 8.1.)

3. Shirt for my youngest sister
4. Shirt for me
5. Skirt for my middle sister
6. Skirt for me too
7. Coat for a friend
8. Bibs for my friends' baby
9. A hand puppet for friend's child.
10. At least a hand made card for my middle sister if she graduates in the spring. Maybe a present too.
11. Afghan for my youngest sister. It would be combined Yule and Birthday gift, so I have a whole year to make it.
12. Learn to make sweetened potato casserole
13. Travel sewing kit (for fixing clothes when travelling)
14. Some new shopping bags.
15. Tunic for my mother.
16. Fix friend's coat.
17. Fix friend's hoodie.
18. Another skirt for my middle sister.
19. Finish the crocheted top from Happy Hooker that I started at least couple of years ago.

My 9 used to be "Fabric book for the same baby. I'm planning to make appliqued and embroidered animals." but I realised that she'll be too old for baby books when I finish it, so I thought I'd make a hand puppet instead. Then about number 10. My sister became a biology teacher recently, but she's going to have a graduation party in July and I'll make her a card and something else then.

sunspotted, your lapghan looks great. I really like the colour combination you chose.

Thank you.
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Mushroom Hats on: January 20, 2011 10:31:29 AM
Me and my sister made these hats in the summer, but I didn't post them here then.

My sister was going to see Lake of Tears with her friend and they wanted to wear mushroom hats, because the singer has one too. They're not very crafty, so they asked me if I could make them. I found a round hat pattern from a magazine and altered it a bit to make the hats wide enough. I made a practice version from an old bed sheet to see if the size and shape was right, and luckily the same size fit both of them. Then I went to fabric store and bought a piece of red corduroy, which was the only red fabric that felt sturdy enough. Then I just sew the hats. Last, but not least, my sister cut the white spots from felt and hand sew them on the hats. For me this was a quick and easy project, but my sister spent quite a while hand sewing.

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: My First Wallets on: January 20, 2011 08:40:50 AM
Thank you. I haven't forgot the tutorial, I've just been too busy to make it.

Littlehopesandreams: I made the Jack patch. The white part is appliqued and black details are machine embroidered.

Adding couple of things to my list:

14. Change the zipper to my crazy quilt bag.
15. Change the zipper to friend's back bag.

Oh wow, you have all been busy with crafting!

I have finished the second item (pictures are still in the camera) and will draw the pattern for my sister's skirt tomorrow.

1. Wallet for me
2. Wallet for a friend (Birthday in 8.1.)

3. Shirt for my youngest sister
4. Shirt for me
5. Skirt for my middle sister
6. Skirt for me too
7. Coat for a friend

12. Learn to make sweetened potato casserole
13. Travel sewing kit (for fixing clothes when travelling)

heini are you crafting a travel sewing kit...like a needle book?  I made use of a second hand
?coin/makeup? purse...I've got several buttons in the bottom of it, folding scissors, two needles and baggie of small spools from some sewing kit...it's worked out great.  If I have a button to sew onto my knitted items...that is my little kit to throw into my craft bag. Cheesy
Something like that, haven't designed it yet and I'm not sure how much stuff I want to put in it. At least needles, few different coloured threads, safety pins, scissors and some buttons. I'll sew the whole thing myself, because then I can make a pocket for scissors, pocket for buttons etc. AND because I have too many fabric scraps.

We were in England last August and my BF broke his trousers on the first or second day. Luckily a friend had needles and thread with him, even though I expected he would be the last person to travel with sewing supplies. I've been thinking since that it would be handy to have a small sewing kit that I could easily take with me.

First project finished, but I don't have pics yet. Also started the second, but my sewing machine started to sound very bad and I need to buy oil before sewing anything. My friend's birthday is tomorrow, but I won't see her until Sunday, so I can easily finish the wallet in time if I go to buy the oil today.

1. Wallet for me
2. Wallet for a friend (Birthday in 8.1.)
3. Shirt for my youngest sister
4. Shirt for me
5. Skirt for my middle sister
6. Skirt for me too
7. Coat for a friend
