101  Quilt Challenge #1 Winter Pencil Case in Quilting: Completed Projects by heini on: January 29, 2007 09:38:01 AM
I made a winter themed crazy quilt pencil case. When I started planning, it didn't look very wintery outside. Now the pencil case is finished, and it's cold and there's snow on the ground.

I used white and blue fabrics, beads, buttons, lace and embroidery. It's about 5" x 9".

I wasn't sure should I join or not. And thought that maybe I'll join later, when this difficult rainbow month is over.
But then I remember I had little scraps of colourful fabric and inspired by this http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=143557.0 I sew some cloth pads. I sew more than those three, but they aren't rainbowish.

Here are the pot holders I got. They're made of 4 different fabrics, the one on the left is my favourite.

I made the easy one.

And I've started the experienced one. Does this look right?

107  Re: Crochet Hook and Knitting Pin Case in Quilting: Completed Projects by heini on: December 21, 2006 12:18:34 PM
The gift bag is 9" x 14", but it's little too small, so I made mine 12" x 15".

I didn't use batting in the needle case. (The measuring thing says "Knitting pin gauge" so I thought they're pins in English). The black part with pockets is 23" x 15". In the bottom there are two rows of bigger pockets for circular needles, each pocket is about 4" x 4". Under them are pockets for sock needles. They are 7" high and there are 2-3 pockets under each circular needle pocket, narrower for smaller needles and wider for bigger. On the right there are 12" pockets for long needles. Next to them there are crochet hook pockets , but they don't go all the way down, they're about 7".

Here's what I got.

Nice chili ornament, which is now hanging in our kitchen. We don't have a lot of Christmas decoration, and all that we have is in kitchen for some reason.

Photo frame for my sister. I think she'll like it, I'm going to give it to her on 25th, which is also her birthday.

Dyed fabrics. I love the green one. I've had in mind that I could make a doll or two for UNICEF (http://unicef.fi/anna_ja_toivo), and these fabrics will be great for their clothes.

And a present for me. I haven't opened it yet, I'll wait till sunday.

109  Pencil Case and Bag with Bobbin Lace in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by heini on: December 19, 2006 01:04:19 PM
This pencil case is a Christmas present to my sister. The red fabric is strong cotton and the bobbin lace butterfly is linen.

Rest of her gift: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=140431.0

Her birthday present last spring was this bag, and I wanted to make a matching pencil case now. Bag is made of same cotton fabric as pencil case and bobbin lace donkey is made of unbleached and black linen. It's big enough to be used as school bag, or at least in university where you don't have to carry many books.

110  Crochet Hook and Knitting Pin Case in Quilting: Completed Projects by heini on: December 19, 2006 12:50:31 PM
My sister knits a lot, so I decided to sew her a case for her pins. Outside is quilted.

Inside there is pockets for different knitting pins and crochet hooks. Numbered pockets are for sock pins. I made some smaller pockets for scissors, stitch marks, measuring tape and other small things. The pin size measuring thing goes with the case, other things are mine.

I'm going to give the present in this bag. With the case there'll be a pencil case (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=140432.0) and knitting magazine. She can keep her knitting projects in the bag or use it as a gift bag later.

I made a quiltagami penguin, which was supposed to be sewn on the gift bag, but it was nicer without it, so I made this bag for my crochet projects.
