At 50, I really doubt a kaleidoscope would thrill - you may be beating yourself up with a mission impossible ... or at very least, very difficult. We crafters tend to try and top what we've done in the past, but that makes the gifting more about us than about the recipient. The best gifts are about the recipients. Turning 50 was, for me, a cool transition into a self-proclaimed right to comforts
... but we don't want to sacrifice some style. We want a little more of what we love.
You could cover an all-white golfing hat in a conservative lace and matching 1/4" satin ribbon ... or go for a great bottle of wine, something along the lines of what she enjoys while spending time at home, going out, pursuing hobbies, etc. Take time to make it about her and you'll top it all.
