391  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Swat Team Kitties! on: July 26, 2006 09:01:52 AM
Those cats are adorable! I never could get the hang of felting things, but I really want to knit one of these. My favorite is the grey cat with stripes.

May I suggest embroidered French knot hair? That's pretty easy, and it sort of looks like little short curls.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I think I'm going to leave him bald for now. Jayne's hair is pretty short and not curly anyway.
393  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Potter Puppet Pals, Princess Bride, and HatP on: July 24, 2006 04:25:00 PM
The first time I stenciled anything, they came out great. Unfortunately the shirts shrank in the wash and now I can't wear them anymore. Here are the two pictures:

I saw a Potter Puppet Pals shirt here on Craftster and made one of my own. The Harry and the Potters one is just the picture from the cover of their first CD.

I finally found a shirt that wouldn't shrink, but the picture bled. Now there's this big blob below the word "bride". I don't mind it too much, but if anyone could suggest a way to get rid of that blob, it would be much appreciated.

394  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / First successful recon - Wedding Singer t-shirt to tank top on: July 24, 2006 03:38:01 PM
I recently went to see the Wedding Singer on Broadway and I got a small t-shirt from the shirt booth. Even though it was a small, it still hung wierdly on me and I didn't like it.

After a little bit of sewing...

395  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Jayne Cobb the Doll on: July 24, 2006 01:40:05 PM
Hello! I've been hanging around Craftster for a long time, but this is my first time posting here.

I learned to knit last summer and became obsessed with the television show Firefly about a month later. I saw the Knit Your Own Rock Star pattern in Stitch N Bitch Nation and immediately wanted to knit a doll version of one of the Big Damn Heroes. Being the procrastinator that I am, I only got around to making that doll last month. The project was halted for a bit because I didn't have any size 6 dpns. I'm finally finished, and here is Jayne Cobb!

Isn't that little hat cunnin'?
I'll let you all in on a secret. That hat covers his bald head!

When I tried to give him some duplicate stitch hair, I totally failed on the duplicate stitch part. Instead, he just keeps that silly hat on all the time. Even without hair, he's ready for some thrillin' heroics. ....Or maybe just some backyard adventures.

I might be going to a Serenity screening in late August and, if I do, Jayne is going to be there with me.
