1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Re: Ideas for a Pushing Daisies themed dorm room? on: August 10, 2009 09:23:18 AM
This is the best idea! I wish I would have thought of it before I dropped big bucks on all my zebra-print bedding this weekend.

Aisy's idea of a big picture of the Pie Hole is good. You could even rasterize it to make it a bit more artsy (http://homokaasu.org/rasterbator/).

I would watch episodes and keep an eye out for the decorations in Chuck, Ned, and Olive's apartments and the aunt's houses. Cheap-o birdcages spraypainted to match your bedding with fake birds inside? Horsie mugs?
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Another 'book purse', with atlas pages! on: July 24, 2008 11:05:56 PM
Thanks guys!

This is super cute!  Would be great to use calendar pictures or posters on the outside, too!  I simply must make one one of these days.  Time to scout the yard sales for big ol' books! They'd make great gifts... or gift bags! Cheesy

Yeah!! The covering possibilities are ENDLESS!

I want to make one of these so badly. I need to go look for some books and give it a shot. Did you follow a tutorial or just wing it?

I pretty much just winged (...wung?) it. I'm sure there's a tutorial around here somewhere.
3  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Midsummer Masquerade!!! Invite your partner swap round 9! send by 7-18 on: July 14, 2008 11:13:50 PM
Checking in! I'm still finishing up Astormorray's package, but I'll send out on time.
4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: IYP 9: Midsummer Masquerade Gallery! on: July 08, 2008 08:51:44 PM
I recieved from Astormorray today, and it could not have come at a better time. I've been sick with an ear infection and very grumpy since the fourth of July. Today was fabulous, though! I had Senior Pictures (went great), found out that I've made it to 'round two' of the applications at the store I applied to work at, and as the icing on the cake, I got the most beauuutimous package! And the icing is my favorite part!

All the yarn is so beautiful! And the colors are perfectly 'me'! It's mystifying! I was so very excited when I was opening the box. My mom didn't seem so excited, but she thought I ordered this yarn from an online store, which I think is a pretty good compliment.

The whole shebang (Most Accurate Colors of all my photos, but still not that great.) :

Self-Striping Sock Yarn (Much brighter in real life. Some of my favorite color combos!) 440 yards of Merino/Silk:

Apple Green & Magenta Yarn (Again, Brighter IRL-- a fabulous color of green!) 50 yards of Viscose, Silk, and Cotswold (? Sorry, kind of hard to read on the tag.) /Nylon:

2 Skeins of "Red Queen" Yarn (a BEAUTIFUL dark red! Totally classy and totally beautiful!) 107 yards total of 100% Merino:

She also sent some lovely pink and orange stitch markers and some size four needles.

I love everything so, so, so much! I can't stop petting my yarn! Everything is perfect and lovely. I really need to make your package better, Astormorray! It feels so flimsy in comparison.

And, in conclusion:

You   R  O  C  K!

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Misalignment of Rows? on: June 27, 2008 01:45:41 PM
Thanks for all the tips, guys! After I'm done with my swap package and my friend's birthday present, I'm going to frog this and start over.

A couple things:

Yes, this is in the round. Sorry, I thought I mentioned this to start with. And the purl ridge was there on purpose, and I THINK the hole is from where my yarn got wrapped around my stitchmarker, then when I pulled it off, there was a lot of extra space. But I don't know. :/

Again guys, THANKS, and I'll look to some of your suggestions when I start over again.

I am a little less than 3/4th of the way through the last item for Glinda.The.Good's package, but I think the earliest I can send out is the end of this week.

!!! I am so excited, but now there's definitely a sense of panic. I really set to work on Astorymorray's project last night, and I'm not quite happy with how it's turning out. Luckily, this sort of thing is way easy to fix.
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Misalignment of Rows? on: June 20, 2008 07:38:48 PM
I'm starting my first real garment project, and I've been knitting on it for a few hours, then I notice that my rows don't line up! I took a picture. The blue line is to try and show how the row of purls doesn't match up.

This has happened to me before, and I thought I was just doing it backward or something, and on those projects, it didn't really matter. I didn't notice it on this until I changed stitches, then it was horribly obvious.

I'm sure I'll have to start over, but can someone tell me how to avoid this in the future?
9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Tricolore Cockades! on: June 18, 2008 03:57:56 PM
!!!!!!

I have been wanting to make a tricolor cockade for SUCH a long time, and I've been scoping out the Fourth of July ribbon, but I haven't found any that I thought would work.

Yours is fabulous!

I get all excited just reading 'Glinda.the.Good's yarn'. My yarn. <: Yay!

I FINALLY finished all of the projects that have been detaining me! My dress is finished with only ONE battle wound, and though the quality isn't great, It's the first thing I've ever sewn from a pattern with some level of success. And all my teachers and friends were impressed. Whooo.

ANYHOW, I'm now free to start on Astormorray's painting! : D
