My hubby and I decided to tackle our kitchen during our vacation in June.  We painted and tiled our backsplash. I am so proud of us for finishing it, but we have decided that next time, we hire someone! lol (Sorry guys, I suck at posting pics...if Craftster would link to flickr we would be set )

Now I just need to buy some nice retro appliances (toaster, blender etc), although it is a basement apartment so we won't be spending too much money for down there!

I work at a library.  This year my coworker and myself decided to go as superheros.  She is the Super Librarian and I am the Dewey Defender.

I made all of my costume (up later than planned last night finishing it).  I just wanted to include her costume so you could get the idea.  I got sick of people asking me who I was, so I finally taped that onto my back.

I finished these about 3 weeks ago, but I just now got the hubby to do a crappy photo shoot for me.

After some discussion in this post http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=165045.msg1677449#msg1677449, I figured out how to do buttons instead of a zipper (I hate when zippers bunch on sweaters, so I said screw it and did it my way).
And so here are the pics:




I wear the hoodie more than all of the other things I have made combined.  It is awesome, so comfortable.

I am planning to make this hoodie (http://www.mccallpattern.com/item/M4789.htm), but I hate zippers in tops.  I find that they always end up bunching as I machine wash and dry all of my clothes.  The material shrinks a bit, but obviously the zipper doesn't.
I was thinking it might be interesting to use buttons instead of a zipper. I can't really think of anything to stop me.  I however am fairly new at sewing (just over a year) and this will be my first top (although I have done multiple skirts and dresses, one with boning). 
Can anyone think of a reason not to use bottons?

I think I like this one better, although it is a little tight around my bottom ... Also I would like to point out that I do have feet, even if they are in my rainbow slippers (see this post about my feet: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=161419.0)

I want to knit my first pair of socks.  I have some yarn I would *like* to use.  It is bamboo, US 7-8 needles, and I have two skeins so aout 380 yds.
I have a couple of questions...
1) is this yarn to thick for socks?
2) can anyone recommend a very simple pattern (preferably free) that would be appropriate?

Oh, this is the yarn....

So, I finally got around to finishing this thing.  And I would have been done a lot sooner had I thought about it.  I was dreading putting in the zipper, cause not that I am horrible at them, I just don't enjoy putting them in.  So anyways, I had basted the zipper area closed (I find it easier to do zippers that way) and I tried it on out of curiousity. Well, I could get it on and off without a zipper....so...no zipper lol

The cord that I used, wasn't very good for this kind of project.  I am hoping that by washing it a few times it will loosen up a bit.
I want to make the blouse that is in that pattern as well.

I found the pattern ok.  I had some problems with the collar and attaching the lining.  Next time I make this, it isn't going to have a linging.  I will figure out how to do without.

Oh, and the jean skirt was a pair of jeans that I converted....yeah yeah...lol

So, I got a brand new sewing machine for christmas, and I have finally found the time to whip something up.

I had a dress that I wanted to use in my costume.  I altered it a bit by changing where the slit was (it was one in the back, and I changed to two very high on the sides.)
It is based off of the Street Fighter character Chun-Li.
