22  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Which comes first... the chicken or the hood?? on: October 29, 2006 07:11:04 PM
I absolutely love these hoodie designs but am a bit confused as to how she creates the neckline binding and edges on her hoodies. They don't seem to be one continuous piece of binding. So do you know if she attaches the hood or neckline first? Please help!!! See here:

That looks so professional!! I've seen that pattern at spotlight.  How many pieces are there to it?  I just started sewing but am making my own patterns. I feel a bit daunted by the store-bought ones.  How long have you been sewing for?

I struggled with this for ages until I read online about the special stretch stitch that even the most basic machines have.  It's 3 of these narrow straight stitches in a row.  ----

I had a go at the Simple Ties tute tutorial here:
http://community.livejournal.com/t_shirt_surgery/4274364.html

I love the ruched and tie look, but I had serious problems sewing up the hole after I cut it so that it was neat and didn't show.

Any tips?

Thanks in advance!
