going back a few conversations about thread for jointing i use invisable thread for a sewing machine (its the same as fishing wire but its not as stretchy) its about £2 here.

Im in love with shirring after watching that link, given by amalgam, last week its really easy to understand.

The Long Awaited Poppet-Along is so named (I think) because the mods were kind of reluctant to give Poppets their own board & it took a while to convince them.

A board for poppets would be great but the whole idea of the craft-alongs (in this case a poppet along) is so everyone gets to do the same pattern at their own pace.  I had the pattern for over a year before venturing and making my own... in the mean time I kept a very close eye on this board, just to see what everyone else was coming up with.

I dont think it needs a board of its own there are links on the very first page to the good stuff,  perhaps if you find something thats worth a link suggesting it to ghillie and she can add it when she has the time, but try not to add suggest links that are already there

so far shes worn in everyday and I now have to  get it off her to wash it before she starts staining it really badly!!!!
 

I love the colours in the first dress a shame it didnt fit her how you wanted it to but I love the fact you salvaged it and made a skirt 

the vests are fantastic.

........  I know that most of the poppeteers use yarn for hair, has anyone thought about using Saran/nylon traditional doll hair? .....

I used curly doll hair for a poppet for the last swap


I just used cotton the same colour and sewed it on .... if you took the hair off you'd be able to see just how bad I've sewn it on 

   yes when i posted this last night i went back over to stacyCK newest post  and had a sneak peak at other topics she'd posted and found the tutorial.... so as soon as i have time ......

I saw the first dress on this post a few days ago http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=307473.0
and fell in love with it  so i just had to make my own..... not for me   for my little girl.
I used three different patterned cottons and as much as I like the dress its not as whooshy as I wanted it to be.... but even so my daughter loves it  and thats the best feeling in the world.

Ignore the face it had turned quite chilly by the time id managed to get hold of her and the camera so she was not impressed to be stood out in the cold.

This is a self drafted pattern but as I've already said I had influence from another craftsters' brilliant dress.
It's the first time I've made an item of clothing for my daughter that has actually fitted her first time, without resizing   and its also the first time I've done shirring and gathering .  Isnt it amazing how someone elses creation can push you to learn something new.
We have had quite nice weather here in the uk the last week or so and if it lasts I will definitely be making more, but with a few alterations.

Background story:  My friend has a little girl who has an unusual name, well unusual enough that they cant find anything with her name on it.   We (as in my daughter and son) were invited to her birthday party,  I thought for a very long time about what I could do, I decided on a pillow with her name scripted with ribbon.  I started on my new project only to realize that I wouldnt have enough time to finish it (to many fiddly tiny heart buttons.)

So I changed my mind and decided on a small bag  

here it is

 the inside



The name is threaded onto elastic and that also keeps the bag closed, the strap is black ribbon with pink stitched edges. There is a another pocket on the back but I forgot to take pictures of it

I loved it..... but Im not to sure on the recipient she was to busy playing to really pay much attention  but her mum liked it
