1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Urchin on: December 07, 2007 06:53:20 AM
Another Urchin from Fall Knitty. Loved knitting this hat! I used Colinette Prism, which is thinner than the suggested yarn. Made the medium instead of small to compensate and it fits my little head well. Knit on 10.5 needles. My sister has already requested one. Also plan on making one for my 3-year-old since she looks really  cute in mine.

2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Oilcloth source on: September 07, 2007 09:44:15 AM
Looking for a source for oilcloth with cute kid's patterns. No table-clothy florals need apply. I want to make some aprons for a kid's painting-themed birthday party. Any ideas? I called Joann's and they do not have any.

Thanks,
Candice
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / La La Scarf on: May 24, 2007 07:51:10 AM
Pattern is from Greetings from Knit Cafe. I used Sublime Mohair on size 10 bamboo straights. I really enjoyed the pattern -- up until the picot bind off when it got a little tedious, but well worth the effort. I plan on making more as soon as I can get my hands on some Rowan KSH.

4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Silk/Cotton/Spandex on: April 02, 2007 06:14:18 AM
Does such a blend exist in the yarn world? I want to make the suit in Vogue Knitting Spring 2007. It is a strapless dress and jacket. They yarn called for is Lang Lyra which is 46 silk/54 cotton. I thought something will a little spandex might help it hold its shape better.

Any other yarn suggestions for this project?

Thanks,
Candice
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / drop stitch question on: January 09, 2007 04:22:08 PM
Making this pattern and am confused at the second step. If I drop the first stitch, that leaves 29 stitches... and p5k1 won't work. Or will it and I'm just dense?

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Shirring problem on: July 19, 2006 08:20:03 AM
I am trying shirr the top of a sundress using elastic thread in the bobbin and regular thread in the needle. I get as far as sewing a row with this setup, but what do I do next? Pull the elastic carefully to achieve the shirring? Sew all the rows then, pull the elastic? I found a shirring tutorial on this site, but it only said to sew the rows and tie the ends of each row. Obviously I am missing something, because if I sew the rows and just tie the ends, there is no shirring.

Thanks,
Candice
