1  Time flies when you are getting crafty in CHALLENGE 17 ENTRIES by DancesInGarden on: February 27, 2007 03:23:31 PM
*First off, parden the fuzziness of the pictures.  I need a new camera, as this one no longer wants to do close up shots*

I originally wanted to try some kind of water clock.  But the simplest versions weren't pretty and the prettier versions required math and...well.  As I was researching into the wee hours, I thought "My how time flies".  Then it hit me!  A time fly!

How about a small clock that can sit on a desk or a shelf?  So out came the air-drying modelling clay and a watch whose band had broken.  Some wire and crochet thread to make half pineapple wings, and this little guy was ready to air dry and wait for paint.

After an overnight rest, he was sealed with acrylic sealer and painted using various acrylic paints.  His legs and probiscis are jewelry findings.  He is able to stand on his legs, but that air drying clay is not as strong as I thought and I am afraid to break him.  A front view:

Like all flies he has a short lifespan, as I did not leave access to the battery compartment.  Nor can the time be changed, as the stem is also not accessible.  Which is annoying.  Kind of like a real fly!
