1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / anthropologie necklace $38; handmade knockoff $5 on: June 11, 2009 03:46:27 PM
everybody loves a design swipe! while in atlanta last week, i stopped at my favorite inspiration store. you guessed it: anthopologie! i call it an inspiration store because hell naw i'm not paying their prices for cotton & paper even if it is the most wonderful magnificent object ever. i just don't have that kind of cash.

anyway, saw this necklace in ballerina pink, sunny yellow & i think grey too. theirs is monochrome: same color ribbon, flowers & rhinestone/jewel center. buuuut i wanted to make mine a LITTLE different ;]

i bought a spool of dark green grosgrain ribbon [$2.75] and a quarter of a yard of grey/brown polyester fabric [$2.25 on sale] BOTH of which i have enough left to make a whole 'nother necklace! i hand sewed everything, the petals to the felt, the black seed beads to the petals. also: word of advice: if you make this, don't use such a slippery fabric. keeping it all layered while trying to sew fast enough to keep it together was ridiculous!

there's not a picture of the back of the necklace on the website, but i saw it in the store. little felt circles which i went ahead and just hot-glued to the ribbon. over-all very simple but time consuming to cut all the flowers & the bead work. here's to hoping it just doesn't look like a lei of some sort!

here's the anthro one:

here's mine!

that's what theirs looked like. my felt circles WERE circles, but once i glued them i just trimmed off a little extra. the original also had two more smaller sized flowers, but i got lazy/ tired of cutting. theirs had a clasp & extra ribbon for aesthetics, but obviously i just left mine ribbon ends to tie. anyway, that's that!

here's the easy tutorial i used for the flowers!

thanks for lookin!

i had some extra fabric from some purses i made, so in the spirit of project runway season 4, i made a bubble skirt in like 45 minutes. haha, thanks for looking!

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / tee-shirt shoulder bag! on: June 20, 2007 06:28:52 PM
yay! i've been crafting since i could hold a pair of scissors, but after one year of membership to craftster, im proud to say this is my first post!

i guess this is kind of a re-con post, too... but technically it is a finished bag, so it fits here too  Smiley

two tee-shirts, overlap, sew & voila!

pic2- modeled!

it didnt turn out exactly how i planned it, but i like it a lot now that its finished. i ran out of the dark grey fabric... the knot is supposed to tie at the top, but i just lengthened the light gray strip & now the bow is on the side. i think its cute!

tell me what you think! thanks for looking  Smiley
