1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Bustier Plum Dress.... AKA Dress from Hell!! on: June 27, 2010 10:15:01 AM
It's beautiful!! I have the same issues with McCalls patterns, I tend to go one size down on the boobier patterns. And the dressform is my best friend!!
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Silk Petal Jewellery on: January 25, 2010 05:09:33 AM
These were my final pieces for my latest jewellery project at uni - they're made with silk petals, steel wire and handmade silver beads. And lots of araldite!!

The petals are made by holding the silk up to the side of the candle flame, very gently!!

They all started from this brooch I made last summer...

There's more photos in this flickr set here - http://www.flickr.com/photos/18596951@N00/sets/72157617952484885/ - I didn't want to overload the thread with huge photos!!

4  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Latest News / Re: ad issue on: November 24, 2009 12:55:08 AM
I hate these adverts... it takes the advertising from being relatively unobtrusive to in your face and annoying. I don't mind slidy ones but when it takes up the whole screen?! arghhh

6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Salt Dough Ornaments - Help! on: November 23, 2009 07:21:43 AM
Hey hey - I'm trying to make salt dough ornaments but they're puffing up Sad

Any idea why this is happening? Could it be because they're quite thin? Or because I have a fan oven? Thanks girls and boys, any help would be muchos appreciated!!
7  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Tucker's Law from The Thick Of It (NSFW language) on: November 09, 2009 06:43:49 AM

I hope you have it hanging up on display!

Still working on that part. A4 is a surprisingly awkward size to find a frame for.  Wink

Try ikea - they do an uber cheap wooden frame that holds A4 size. it's called RAM and costs 84p.. Smiley

ps love the thick of it! especially the guy who plays ollie... he's so cute!
8  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: Hallmarking PMC jewellery for sale in the UK- has anyone done this? on: October 31, 2009 03:03:49 AM
Thank you! I've been a redhead for a couple of years now - it's my favourite of all the colours I've been!!

I think with that you can sell it as 'handcrafted silver bead with sterling silver earwires' (I'm presuming the bead is made from PMC) Don't worry about labelling the headpin/jump ring.

Are you sure they're not hallmarked? Sometimes they are, it's just very very small!! I have some 5mm jumprings that I thought were scratched until I realised it was the world's smallest hallmark!!!

With your findings.. if they come ready hallmarked then you can sell your work as 'sterling silver findings...' if the actual piece you put on the findings isn't hallmarked, you can't sell it as sterling silver. Get in contact with Goldsmiths  - these two links should help with your other questions

good luck! Smiley
