14  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Finger puppet inspired by painting on: July 30, 2010 10:30:26 AM
I recently purchased my first painting after falling in love with an artist's work while vacationing in Savannah, GA.  The artist is Nathan Durfee (http://www.nathandurfee.com/) and the painting is called "The Death Point" and has this cute little finger puppet with a speech bubble that has a skull in it.  I don't really understand copyright rules, so I'm not going to post a picture of the original painting, but I decided to make the puppet real as a thank you gift!

I knit his tube body, sewed on a knit circle for the top, made his robe out of scrap fabric and quilt lining, and used puffy paint for the face and spots.

Lined for comfort!

In action.  What say you, King?!  (speaking of which, he looks a wee bit more like Elvis than I was aiming for.  Oh well Smiley)

Thanks for looking   Grin

Wonderful job braving the shiny fabric!  I think my favorite part is probably the lovely wide shoulder straps, you've given me something to look for (or perhaps create???) in the future  Smiley.  Also, hurrah for big bottoms!   Grin  You got it going on, girl.  Congratulations on your wedding!
