I've been making these for a while now, and thought I'd share them with you. These are brooches I've made out of game tiles (Rummy-O/Rummy-kub/Rummy tiles to be specific). Basically, you bleach 'em, stick something on 'em (mine are mostly stamped with my Mum's scrapbook stamps and coloured in, you could alternately draw/paint/colour photocopy something and glue it on etc etc etc) seal 'em, and stick on a brooch back.
Prepare to be astounded
(that is if I can figure out how to put photos up!!!)
these are my fav's, they're just stamps of people put on and coloured in:
some more.... (most of these i didn't bother putting a brooch back on, cuz i didn't really like them):
here is one i made from a domino. I really like it, but it's too big/thick/heavy to actually wear, it flops to one side
this is what they look like on the back (just if you're curious).. not particularly professional, but hey, who looks at the back of a brooch anyway??:
here is another i didn't really like, but for some reason i didn't take a photo of it with the others...
and finally with my left over glue i stuck a couple of toggles, a button and a cheapo plastic belt buckle i had lying around to some brooch backs. i haven't actually worn any of these:
phew. i hope that worked.
I'm really sad because I lost my favourite brooch of a man/boy at school.
...... and when I tried recreating it, it just didn't look the same. tragic. i've also given these as gifts... they're really unique. (oh and if you're curious they're about 2.5x3.5 cm) do you reckon i could sell these? for how much?
so..... please comment. if the photos don't show up, you can look here: http://www.craftster.org/pictures/showgallery.php?ppuser=67493&cat=500
