1  *you tube junkie* t shirt in Stenciling: Completed Projects by flammable_feline on: December 13, 2006 04:55:38 PM
Hey,
I made this t-shirt for my friend who is actually addicted to You Tube.
It was my first attempt at stenciling, and I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out, 'cause it looks exactly how I had imagined it would... which doesn't happen very often.

yeah.. it's not perfect, and the up-close pictures make it look worse. But I'm pretty happy with it, and she seemed to like it.

3  skirt with *questionably awesome* fabric: yay or nay? in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by flammable_feline on: October 27, 2006 02:52:21 AM
well. i think the fabric is the most brilliant thing i've ever laid eyes upon. however my mother and some of my friends think it's hideous.
what is your opinion?

so... my friend and i picked up the fabric el cheapo from a hospice shop. i made this skirt. i didn't do a very good job though. Lips sealed It sits kinda funny, 'cause i screwed up the zip. and i didn't hem it properly 'cause i'm lazy. (i need to get our overlocker fixed PRONTO) so i've now got a really bad skirt with really rad fabric. *sigh*

so yay or nay? is the fabric rad or bad?
i was gonna try do a poll. but i don't know how... or if you can even still do them. so just tell me!

4  ooh lah lah. some star-ry chuck taylor ballet flat shoes for myself! in Shoes: Completed Projects by flammable_feline on: October 14, 2006 09:15:42 PM
check it out,
my friend made some (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=120870.0) so i decided to make some too!
they are by no means perfect, but i like them none the less.

isn't it cool how they have a checkered sole?

action shot Grin

I pranced out to the living room upon completing them to show them off, wearing this, and my 9 year old brother told me that what I was wearing "just wasn't me" and "didn't match" lol...

I'm quite pleased with myself. i'm not sure if i should add some black ribbon on top of the white, on the bow (like rache's in the link above...) what do you guys think?

do comment! <333

Edit: The before style were faux chuck taylors of the sewn up slip on variety.... if you know the ones i mean..

painting the stars on sucked, and it was really hard to make them look even, with sharp edges. after i had done it, my mum suggested stamping them, and rache suggested stenciling them, both of which would have worked a million times better. but alas, i didn't think of that before, so i have munted stars.

sewing on the ribbon was also a mission, esp around the back, where there is a double layer of canvas, and was really thick. so i whipped out the ol' antique thimble and did it, after much finger-wounding.

5  Re: cloudy ballet flats from chuck taylors in Shoes: Completed Projects by flammable_feline on: October 08, 2006 08:53:22 PM
here is a tutorial Rache made up.. craftster wouldn't let her post a pic because she hasn't made at least 10 posts....

hope that works.
i'm making some of my own, and i used a spray-type sealant in the hopes it would help preserve my paint work...
have fun!

6  hideous zebra striped dress turned *hot*hot*hot* rawr! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by flammable_feline on: October 05, 2006 09:13:56 PM
well... kinda.

it started like this:

(ugly... yes?)

and after not too much work... i have this:

FRONT

CLOSE UP

BACK

Now time for me to ramble on about all its flaws....
well, for starters it's sooo... short... and low cut. (well for me..) I can't imagine ever wearing it out and public
then, one of the straps is slightly wider then the other
also, the weird non-fitting-ness of the back, it sags.
it's such strange fabric... like sweatshirt material..... as a dress.
but its super comfy, and looks cool as a skirt/top as well... so who knows, one day i might split it up... i'll prob get more use of it then....
I'm pretty proud of myself Grin
(to be quite honest, i think it looks better in real life)
what do ya think?

7  cloudy ballet flats from chuck taylors ***TUTORIAL PAGE 3*** in Shoes: Completed Projects by flammable_feline on: September 15, 2006 03:54:10 AM
my friend made these:

aren't they super duper? They used to be faux-chuck taylors. Now they're pretty!!!
she was inspired when i showed her craftster.  Tongue
she is considering painting birds on them. i don't think she should. what do you guys think?
She used acrylic paints, and says that they were easy to do and really fun.

she would greatly appreciate comments. to be honest i don't know why she doesn't make an account herself. but i don't mind. all the people who are too lazy to read all this writing will think I was the brilliant one who made these, but, alas, I am not.

Maybe I should make myself some....

8  old jeans = fantastico *SQUID* pipes in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by flammable_feline on: August 27, 2006 02:24:41 AM
yaybeans.
I had some huge flared jeans, that i never wore. so I made them cool.
ta da.

basically I skinnied them, all over. and appliqued on a felt squid.
I intend on adding more sea life. I'm glad i didn't do an octopus - the tenticles took forever to sew on.

I seem to craft best/most when I have exams coming up. sigh.
comments? questions? critiscism?

I can see all the flaws with it. so hopefully you guys don't see them!

9  2 easy peasy skirts in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by flammable_feline on: August 12, 2006 01:52:22 AM
here are some skirts I've made..

this is one I made a coupla years ago with a whole bunch of scrap fabric. I didn't do a very good job of it, and so the hem is falling apart and the skirt is wonky and see-through in parts. nevertheless I quite like it.

and the brilliant thing about it is that it doesn't matter if you wear it back to front!

here's one I made a coupla weeks ago. I'm quite pleased with it... it's a bit more formal than I'd usually wear. but its alright.

it was pretty easy to make. I did have something far more extravagant in mind, but I'm too much of an amateur to do anything fancy, so I went with that. the lace there mainly to hide my poor attempts at darts.  Cool

please comment. tell me if you think I should never have worn that first skirt out in public. My Mum would probably agree with you.

10  Stamped Tile/Domino brooches (IMG HEAVY) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by flammable_feline on: August 08, 2006 10:28:19 PM
Heyah!
I've been making these for a while now, and thought I'd share them with you. These are brooches I've made out of game tiles (Rummy-O/Rummy-kub/Rummy tiles to be specific). Basically, you bleach 'em, stick something on 'em (mine are mostly stamped with my Mum's scrapbook stamps and coloured in, you could alternately draw/paint/colour photocopy something and glue it on etc etc etc) seal 'em, and stick on a brooch back.
Prepare to be astounded Wink (that is if I can figure out how to put photos up!!!)

these are my fav's, they're just stamps of people put on and coloured in:

some more.... (most of these i didn't bother putting a brooch back on, cuz i didn't really like them):

here is one i made from a domino. I really like it, but it's too big/thick/heavy to actually wear, it flops to one side Sad:

this is what they look like on the back (just if you're curious).. not particularly professional, but hey, who looks at the back of a brooch anyway??:

here is another i didn't really like, but for some reason i didn't take a photo of it with the others...

and finally with my left over glue i stuck a couple of toggles, a button and a cheapo plastic belt buckle i had lying around to some brooch backs. i haven't actually worn any of these:

phew. i hope that worked.

I'm really sad because I lost my favourite brooch of a man/boy at school. Sad Sad Sad...... and when I tried recreating it, it just didn't look the same. tragic. i've also given these as gifts... they're really unique. (oh and if you're curious they're about 2.5x3.5 cm) do you reckon i could sell these? for how much?

so..... please comment. if the photos don't show up, you can look here: http://www.craftster.org/pictures/showgallery.php?ppuser=67493&cat=500
