I personally find 108 easier to use when doing a large quilt because I don't have to piece it.

Different kind of swap.  I did the middle then three other people each did a border then I did a border and the quilting and finishing etc.

They might enjoy scrapbooking.  You can use a lot of found and recycled items, they could bring in their own pictures.

Um you have to treat the fabric.  I have stuff called Bubble Jet Set.   I don't think Modge Podge would work.

My second quilt this summer. It started off as a swap quilt from another now defunct web group. it is all cotton including the backing and is machine quilted.   It is about the size for a double bed.
