My family is Buddhist and I find "witty" phrases like that to be ignorant and slightly offensive. Buddha is not a god.
Also, not all Buddhas have big bellies. The big-bellied Buddha represents a man who was once handsome, but gained weight to keep the girls away so he could focus on becoming enlightened.
Hmm. I'm actually sort of mad now.

 I practice Buddism also and I don't think it's really worth getting upset over.  Even though he is not considered a God it's not like it's an insult to call him one. You never know Buddah might think it's funny. I'm willing to bet he has a good sense of humor =) Being quick to get angry may be something you should meditate on. It worked for me.

And for the shirt I think I could use one. I have a Buddah belly
