12  Texas / Texas: North Central / New Frisco/Plano, Texas Weekly Meet-Up - Stonebriar Centre - Frisco, Texas on: August 12, 2009 06:26:54 AM
FiberTherapy.org has added another meet-up location and time!

Stonebriar Centre's
Barnes & Noble's
Starbucks Coffee Shop

Each Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

(This Barnes & Noble, by the way, has one of the most extensive selection of books on fiber arts that I've seen in a bookstore!)

Check out our website for additional times/locations and how to start your own local group! www.fibertherapy.org

All Craftsters welcome - bring any craft or come to learn fiber arts!

Thanks,
RM

Sure! Come this week if you can. We'll have a lot of our crafters showing off stuff they got at the Alpaca Show this past weekend. What kind of projects do you have in the works? What do you want to learn in the future?

See you soon!

Thanks! I have them in a lovely new Pink Cash/Silk on my Ravelry and on my craft blog.

So lucious! But a tad too large because I grabbed the wrong needles! Doh!

Thanks! I am working up another pair and I'm having trouble with putting the thumb gusset onto the waste yarn following the instructions, so I may have to re-word it.

Later!

Finally worked up the gauge swatch for the Elfin Lace yarn...

equals 1 inch

Make it so!

17  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Woo-Hoo! A pile of new needles for me... on: January 10, 2009 05:49:15 PM
I can answer your question...Yes! The Harmony wood needles feel like bamboo. Very lovely, too!

Also, this is the magic loop method that I use for knitting in the round with circulars although I knit continental style. The concept is the same, though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtBSmxGomPk

Then, there's also this method, which requires two circular needles, but there's less pulling and pushing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RybPvCNfrT8

I have been eyeing the harmony interchangeable set, but they don't make the tips in anything smaller than a size 4, so you'd have to by the fixed needles if you wanted something smaller, for socks or something else with fingering or lace-weght yarn...

By the way, how do the wood tips feel, is it kind of like bamboo in that it sort of takes on whatever temp your hands are? I have arthritis in my hands so after buying one addi turbo I haven't bought any more, I try to stick to bamboo in the winter months, but if the harmony sort of warm up too that might be a good option for me.

As for the hat, have you ever tried magic loop knitting? you could use your harmony tip with your longest cable and knit the entire hat on that one needle with no need to change to dpns for the top. Just a thought.

Anyway, impressive needle haul there... very "envy-inducing".  Wink

For sure! We're having a great time together with about ten to twelve crafting each week.

Due to Holiday parties and such, we will not be at the coffee shop on December 10th and the 24th, but will be back at J.J.'s on the 17th. (Don't know about the 31st [New Year's Eve] yet.)

You should totally come and join us!

Hope to meet you soon,
RM
