11  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Altoid Tin Swap Round 9 (CLOSED, Sendouts 11/9) on: October 15, 2007 06:24:48 PM
Swap name: Altoid Tin Theme Swap Round 9
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: LuxieLou
Sign-up date range: 10/15 -10/20 or until FULL
Date to send item by: 11/9/07

Limited to a certain number of people? (optional): 24 or 25, whatever gives us an equal number of pairs.
Restricted to people who all live in the same country? NO
If so, which country? n/a
All ages allowed? Or 18+?  All ages; under 16 need parent's permission and must have a way to keep in contact and to get to the post office for shipping.

Swap Organizer himself/herself meets these conditions:
- Has fully read the Swap Info Guide: YES
- Has successfully completed two swaps as a participant: YES
- Is not organizing more than three swaps right now: YES
- Will recruit a co-organizer or give all details to a Swap Moderator if this swap has more than 25 participants: n/a

Swap Organizer will check each participant to make sure they meet these conditions:
- Has been a member for at least one month: YES
- Has posted at least 15 times: YES
- Has completed one swap successfully before signing up for multiple swaps at a time: YES
- Is not currently signed up for more than five swaps: YES
- Does not have any negative feedback: YES

Details of swap:
You will be given five theme ideas from your partner. You will choose one of those ideas, and re-con an Altoid tin according to the theme. (If you are unable to find an actual Altoid tin, you may use a substitute, provided you keep the size to anything smaller than 4" x 4" (10 cm x 10 cm), and not thicker than 1" (3 cm).) The tins can be square, rectangular, or circular. After the tin is decorated, you will fill the tin with tiny objects that also relate to the theme.

For example, if your partner chose "red" as a theme, you would decorate the box to reflect "red". It could just be different shades of red, or perhaps pictures of red items (roses, cherries, or firetrucks, etc.). Then, you decorate the interior of the box and fill it with red things...maybe a pair of red earrings, a red purse charm, some red hots...whatever "red" means to you. The catch is that you can only send the decorated tin and whatever fits into it. Nothing else! This will be a quick, fun swap and shipping should be fairly cheap, as well.
If there are extras sent it will be noted in your feedback, Everything MUST fit in the tin.

For examples you can see the galleries from the last rounds:

If you would like, you can have two partners, but the shipping deadline will still apply.  If you want two partners you can make two theme lists or use the same one (you might get two of the same theme, though).

Rules:
All PMS must be titled ALTOID TIN SWAP ROUND 9!!!
1.  Post at least once in this thread so we can communicate with you easily.
2.  US participants sending within the USA must get a DC number.  International shippers keep your receipts as proof of shipping.  Failure to do this will be noted in your feedback and if your package does not arrive you will have to resend.  If you have proof of shipping and your package doesn't arrive I will get a swap angel and you will still get positive feedback.
3.  Communicate!  When you have shipped pm the DC number to me (you can send it to your partner, too--it's fun to track the progress of a package headed your way).  If you are going to be late, let me know by the shipping deadline.  If I do not hear from you you will receive NEGATIVE feedback, preventing you from signing up for more swaps until you have cleared it up.   Sending early, late, getting DCNs, and having good or bad communication will all be noted in your feedback.

14  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / OTT 15 (Closed, Sendouts 10/17/07) on: September 27, 2007 09:57:08 AM
PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE MESSAGE BEFORE JOINING AND PLEASE ONLY JOIN IF YOU CAN ABIDE BY EVERYTHING.

Swap name:  One Tiny Thing Round 15
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: LuxieLou
Sign-up date range:  09/27/07 - 10/3/07 or until FULL
Date to send item by:  10/17/07

Limited to a certain number of people? (optional): 24
Restricted to people who all live in the same country? No

All ages allowed? Yes but if you are under 16 please be sure your parent/guardian's permission. Make sure you can maintain reasonable communication with the thread and can get to the post office.

The idea is to make one tiny craft item.  It should be physically small (miniatures are encouraged) and should be something that you can craft with a high level of skill.  Even if it is a fairly simple/easy item for you to make, please embellish or perfect it so that it best represents your skill.  (For example, if you wish to make a coin purse, I encourage you to embroider, add beading, or take other steps to make it a really special piece.)

You will receive only one partner.  You may only send that partner ONE tiny craft - "extras" are not allowed in this swap.  All items should be 4"x4" or smaller.  The idea behind this swap is to give you a simple, low-pressure craft swap that won't stress you out or cost a lot to ship.

How do you know if your idea is "tiny?"  Examples:  A coin purse is tiny; a clutch purse is not.  A pair of earrings is tiny; a necklace, earrings, and bracelet set is not.  A trinket box is tiny; a pencil box is not.  An ATC (artist trading card) is tiny; a full-size drawing is not.  (If you're not sure if your idea qualifies as "tiny," ask me!)

IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE, SEND YOUR INFO TO THE ORGANIZER VIA PRIVATE MESSAGE AND DON"T REPLY WITH IT HERE.

QUESTIONNAIRE TO ANSWER:
Swap name: OTT Round 15
Craftster Username:
Email address:
Your real name:
Mailing address:
Would you be willing to ship to an address outside of your country?:
What craft skills can you use to make a high quality tiny item (ie.. knit, crochet, sew, quilt, shrine making etc..) :
What craft skills would you love your tiny item to be made with:
What kind of tiny things would you like to receive? (this is just a guideline) :
What are you favorite colors / motifs / styles:
What else would you like to tell you partner?  (Please be sure to include any restrictions, such as no animal byproducts, religious symbol preferences, etc.)

A few rules:

1.   Please post on this thread. A simple I'm in! or whatever will suffice. This is so I'm certain you get all messages.

2.   Please put OTT 15 in the title of all PM's - don't send me a PM with no subject as I might miss it! Be Sure to PM the organizer when you have sent you OTT and when you have received your OTT!!

3.   A DC# is not required since the packages are very small.  In all cases, save your receipt and be prepared to show me a copy if there are problems with your package arriving in a timely fashion.

4.   Remember send only ONE tiny item, no extras!  Some people are forgetting this and so I'm mentioning it yet again - follow the rules!!

5.   I'm hoping that no one will send late but, if closer to send out date, you know you are going to be late, you MUST inform me and your partner.

6.   This is how I plan to give feedback:

If you send on time and follow the guildelines of only one item, I will give you a "Great Swapper"
If you send late* (with a good reason) but communicate, I will give you "Sent late but communicated"
If you send late* but don't communicate and the package actually arrives at it's destination, I will give you "Sent late and didn't communicate"
If you flake (and I don't expect any flakers) you will be given "Negative"

You have 2 weeks to craft and maybe longer if this swap fills up fast so I'm going to consider you late if you don't send by October 17th and it will be noted in your feedback.  That may seem harsh to some but It's only ONE tiny item and 2 weeks should be long enough to get it done.

15  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Sushi Bag on: September 20, 2007 10:05:23 PM
I got this sushi fabric from a seller on Etsy and I just love it! So I made this pleated bag for myself.

Close up of the fabric

At the widest it is 16" and it is 13" high. The interior is plain black with 1 pocket and a magnetic snap closure.
I just made this pattern as I went and I'm really happy with how it turned out Smiley

Swap name: OTT Round 14

2.   Please put OTT 14 in the title of all PM's - don't send me a PM with no subject as I might miss it!

You have 2 weeks to craft and maybe longer if this swap fills up fast so I'm going to consider you late if you don't send by September 12th and it will be noted in your feedback.  That may seem harsh to some but It's only ONE tiny item and 2 weeks should be long enough to get it done.
