11  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Viktor Accordion on: June 23, 2013 08:13:03 AM
I was thinking a large petal harp. It wouldn't have to be the size of a real harp though.  Smiley

I'm all about the big stuff!  If it were a pedal harp, it would totally have to be life sized.  I'm definitely considering the idea.  Smiley

A harp would be pretty amazing.  Like a Celtic harp, or a large pedal harp?

Thank you for all the lovely compliments!  It's my goal to crochet a series of unusual but everyday objects.  I'd love to hear recommendations for other things I could crochet.

I call this piece Viktor Accordion.  It is made entirely out of crochet and is true to scale (sorry I didnt have a real accordion on hand to compare).

15  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Halloween Cyclops on: November 04, 2012 05:55:22 AM
There are always one or two who are scared that something big is walking towards them.  But for the most part, I was walking around with them trying to climb up my side and give me hugs.  Smiley

Thank you!  It's funny you say that...  The upholstery foam was actually left over from puppets I made for a St. Patrick's Day puppet show at the library.  You're right, I used lots of the same techniques to make the costume.  Small world, I guess.  Smiley

Hey, Everyone.  Happy Halloween!  Here is the monstery cyclops costume I made for our annual Boo @ the Library event.

I started with a base made out of upholstery foam, made a fitted cover out of fleece and set in a pair of sleeves with attached mittens, stitched on the features, made a monster sized necklace, built the paws up with foam and fleece around a pair of bedroom slippers, and rigged a hiking pack with some pvc poles to hold the whole thing up.

Here is a closeup of the face:

And of the claws and the skulls and bones necklace:

Thanks!  Sure, I've posted others on Craftster, but you can see them all in one place on my Tumblr, here: http://theshhhsound.tumblr.com/

They include Strawberry Shortcake, the Watchmen, He-man/Skeletor/Cringer, She-ra/Swiftwind, the Punisher, Frosty the Snowman, and Adventure Time characters.  I'm always happy to take suggestions!

I knit finger puppets that look like slugs and then dress them up - mostly for my own amusement.

For my friend's birthday, I whipped up a Mary Poppins themed finger slug.  Enjoy.

Thanks for looking.
20  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Jingle Shark Ornaments on: December 28, 2011 11:09:28 AM
Thank you.  The jingle sharks were a hit with the in-laws at Christmas time.  I guess you can pretty much guarantee that nobody already has a jingle shark for their tree.
