1  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions / Covering the ugly porch ceiling? on: August 30, 2011 02:59:37 PM
I want to make my little patio a haven now that the temperature here in north Florida is dipping in the evenings, but the ceiling is ugly particle board. I'm trying to think of something semi-permanent (I rent) to cover it in. I was thinking about cutting up soda cans (I have PLENTY thanks to my hubby) and hammering a pattern into them and tacking them up with metallic thumb tacks....anyone have any other ideas? Smiley
2  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Rolls of calculator/cash register receipt paper? on: March 06, 2010 09:52:14 PM
I have a many many rolls of the paper you would load into an old school accounting calculator or make receipts from on a cash register...They are old and the paper is stained and brown. I don't want to throw them out, but I have no idea what to use them for! Inspiration, my crafty friends?
3  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / Where To Find Things To Recycle / Where can I find Cinder Blocks? on: March 02, 2010 05:38:19 PM
I have some pretty neat ideas, but I have no idea where to begin looking.
4  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Old kiddie swimming pool on: January 15, 2010 10:24:26 AM
What can I do with an old plastic swimming pool in the shape of a turtle!? Lol. It's not very deep, but it's pretty sturdy. I had thought about using it for my compost heap, but quickly ditched that idea and just started my heap right on the ground.
5  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Back to school: Make ahead lunch ideas? on: January 09, 2010 11:20:25 PM
Okay guys, winter break officially ends for us this week and I'm trying to do all of my back to school shopping. I'm a BIG planner/list maker and I'm trying to plan what to make for lunch. I moved from an apartment in the middle of town, close to campus to a house out in the boons, so I don't want to drive all the way here for lunch, and I want to avoid fast food if at all possible.

There are microwaves on campus, but no fridge. I know the most popular thing is prob. soup and junk from the frozen food isle, but I'm looking to vary it up a bit.

All I have so far:
-Sandwiches
-Fajitas (I can take the wraps and meat/veggies separately)
-Microwave soups and other junk from the frozen isle.

Any more ideas for me?
6  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Old fashioned school desk? on: April 10, 2009 12:26:59 PM
I found an old fashioned and TINY school desk on the side of the road today, and just had to swerve to the corner and pick it up.

When I got it back home I realized that the front two legs were bent in and it leans forward!

It looks pretty much exactly like this:

but in more worn condition.
I was thinking put it out on the porch and use it to hold plants...but that's not very creative. Any other suggestions, craftsters?
7  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / Nikon FG Camera on: August 22, 2008 06:41:42 PM
I have an awesome uncle who found a Nikon FG camera at a flea market along with a few different lenses and got it for me. The only problem is I've only ever used digital cameras and I have NO idea how to operate it! I've downloaded and read the owners manual for it but its just not very in depth. I don't know what settings to use for so-and-so kind of picture or so-and-so lighting....I'm so excited and I want to use it really really bad but I don't want to waste a bunch of money on film that's not going to be any good....anyone have any advice, links, etc. that might help me out?
8  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions / DIY Water Globes (as seen on t.v.) on: August 18, 2008 07:29:09 PM
I want to make something like these:
https://www.buyaquaglobes.com/?cid=496959

that I saw on t.v. the other night...anyone have an idea how I could fashion something similar (besides glass blowing?)

I have a few recycled light-bulbs that would be a good starting point...I'm not sure what I could attach to that to make the funnel part that you stick in the plants though. Any ideas?
9  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / I need some help from you talented folks! on: May 13, 2008 09:57:05 PM
So here's the deal.
I really really really want to get a tatoo, in particular, a little tribute to John Lennon.

I want it to be on my left wrist, and I want it pretty small.
I don't want anything that says "Imagine" or the little doodle face of John. (everyone and their granny has that one lol.)

I was thinking about his signature maybe? something like this:

...but its a little boring.

If any of you have ideas or can share something with me that is a little more visual, your input would be greatly appreciated!
10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Gifts for a bunch of baseball players? on: March 15, 2008 04:23:19 PM
I'm in a club at our college called "Saint's Angels" (our mascot being the saints, we're kind of like cheerleaders.) And one of my duties is to buy my precious little baseball players candy and treats before every game.

Well, most girls are content to just chuck them a bag of snickers and be done with it, but not I! I would like to include some other little goodies and treats, preferably with a baseball theme.

I've already bought three little baseball shaped water bottles (for little kids lol) but I decorated them with rhinestones and stuff and made it the "pimp cups" with their names (Aaron, Max and Sam) on them and filled them with candy, which they loved. any more ideas from the craftster geniuses?
