1  Re: T4-Tea Towels Go International in The Swap Gallery by Ginamonster on: October 19, 2008 10:03:30 PM
I finished Dancing Boot's towels and will be sending it tomorrow! I couldn't find a pin up roller girl that looked the way I wanted so I took a Sublime pattern and embellished it. I'm really quite happy with the results. I played a lot with mixing threads together.

I FINALLY finished 1girl1boy1kitty2's towel. It's not that the design I chose is complicated, it's that when it rains it pours. Her theme was Bright and Cheery (or something close, truly I can't keep a thought in my head these days) so I found this guy among the wonderous Aunt Martha Patterns. I got to experiment with french knots, leaving some of them loose for texture and what I thought was a fun effect (I don't know if the picture shows it.) I also got to work quite a bit with lazy daisies and couching, something that took way longer than my usual chain stitch.

sorry about the hoop marks...

3  Re: Fiber of the Month Swap June Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by Ginamonster on: June 26, 2008 09:10:14 PM
Sorry for the less than stellar picture quality. My package from FrankieRevolver rocked! I LOVE the color scheme and it's cotton. COTTON! I have been wanting to spin up some cotton. I might go do that while I gaze at the handsomeness that is Josh Dumahl for a bit. Meanwhile, she also sent some Ginned Cotton all natrual and pretty. I can't decide if I want to spin it or put it in my fiber cabinet, or grow my own effin cotton and try spinning that!

ooh. the colors look like a big stick. I love big sticks. now I want a popsicle.

4  A knitting story in Knitting: Completed Projects by Ginamonster on: May 18, 2008 04:30:47 PM
Can't remember if I posted the hat I made out of yarn I spun several months ago. To catch you up, it looked a little something like this:

But I wasn't worried because I knew that it would make a SUPER CUTE felted hat. Right?

Superwash. Forgot. It doesn't felt. So, rather than waste a perfectly good bunch of yarn, I took it apart. And made these. Of course, it's far too hot to wear them right now, but I have plenty more yarn to make another pair!! Whee!

Hello! I received from my partner today! Here's a photo!

I'm guessing on the labels...

Local-a ring from an etsy shop located in Boston. This may also encompass what looks like handspun. It's the grey yarn.

Round-a yarn cake of orange yarn. I like orange yarn! There is also a "knitting is knotty" button. This could also be round!

Green-2 skeins Sugar and Cream. I know just what to do with it!

T-Texas Longhorn cross stitch kit

Funny-a book! (must finish the other two I have going before I start this one...) Tears of a Class Clown

Hard- a organizing container. I was just eyeballing these today!

Choice- Mancala! With animal markers! Mancala is HUGE in my family. and one of the few games at which I beat my Seester almost every time.

Extra- A Boston Derby Dames Sticker! How fun! And Some Purple yarn too! Yay!

Thank you Thatswhatshesaid!

6  Monkey madness in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Ginamonster on: March 17, 2008 11:26:30 PM
I've been on a monkey kick lately. I'm having trouble with photobucket. So I have had to paste links.

this one my mom adopted right away (she has never asked for one of my monkeys before) and named her Rizzo.

For some reason, I can't seem to upload the newest monkey, but here's a link to a picture:

7  Re: Fiber Friday 1-25-2008 in Spinning: Completed Projects by Ginamonster on: January 25, 2008 09:47:12 PM
Love me some yarns, as always. Here's what I've got...

This is She Ra. She Ra is a sheep that lives on a farm near where I live. I bought her roving at a craft fair. She was fun to spin and full of all sorts of chunkedies, which I left in there because I felt like they should be in there. Can't really see it from this picture, but the yarn has such a farmish, homespun feel with all it's imperfections. I can't wait to knit it!

Remember the Rainbow Sherbert roving? Now it's yarn! I would like to provide a better view of what it really looks like but my photo skills are limited.

Sorry guys, i just couldn't wait! i'm only 45 minutes off...

First, some roving I dyed up with Kool Aide. It's on the wheel right now. I'm calling it rainbow sherbert

This one is Spunky Eclectic's FOTM for November "Pie for everyone"

December's FOTM "Party Dress"

And Oct. "Goblin Eyes"

I also spun up a fat skein of "brown" I'm a spining fool. They are all worsted weight.

I finished Riario's towel! I kept with the turtle theme because it was so much fun...Flipped the picture so it reads right this time, and cut myself out of it. 'cept my fingers, but, oh well. I never claimed to be GOOD with photoshop!

ps, the original art for this turtle looked so meloncholy, that I felt the need to give him a little bit of a smile.
