One summer day.. I was bored and had a sudden moment of creativity. For some reason, I really liked this fabric when I found it on sale at Joann's. It's kind of crinkled, and it's very light. I'm pretty proud of this one, because I made it without a pattern, which is a first. I also really wanted braided straps, which was basically my inspiration for the top.

The front... the hem's a little wonky because my machine and I were not on good terms, so I handsewed the hem.

Not the best picture, I know. There's a lot of little imperfections, I know that too. But it's wearable and I like it enough! haha

Okay. So I tried to tie dye this white shirt, and even though I soaked it with dye, it didn't saturate enough of something and barely any dye got inside. I tried to make the shirt a little cooler by painting lyrics on the back :]


That's the front... you can see how little dye actually soaked in.. :/

There's the back with the lyrics. I'm pretty sure that the lyrics are illegible, but they're a part of "All You Need is Love" by none other than the Beatles.

Opinions? What shall I do about the front?

Okay so nothing too original or special, and i know that this fabric has been used before as a hoodie, but before i knew that, i saw it at joann's and knew it needed to be a hoodie. last weekend, i decided i NEEDED to make something. with the help of gnacissej's tutorial and some pattern drafting of my own, i came up with this:


 
there are a lot of imperfections and such, but it's my first project that i can actually use without embarrassment

hi all...
so two days ago, through ideas from both the clothing line Primp and forums topics (especially the designer homage!), i decided that i'd try to make my own unicorn-applique(sp?) kind of thing. only now i'm having a little bit of trouble and figured since there are so many creative and knowing crafters on these forums, that maybe you guys would be able to help me.

ANYWAYS.. i made the appliques out of a linen-like fabric and traced the design and painted them with fabric paint. all was well until i tried to sew it on to the shirt.

Problem #1: The fabric doesn't hold to the thread very well (as in the thread cut through the fabric and stitches "fall out", if you can understand what i'm saying?)
Problem #2: It's difficult to sew onto a shirt by hand (was wondering if there are any good techniques?)
