I'm nearly desperate to start the Tie Bolero on page 63; however, the directions are stumping me.  Under "Method," the first instruction is "12st repeat plus 1st," then it goes on to "Row 2: (RS) 2dc into third chain from hook..."  Don't I need a foundation chain?  If not, what am I supposed to do?  To quote Vinny Barbarino (John Travolta's character on "Welcome Back, Kotter" for those of you who don't know what an 8-track is  ), "I'm so confused!"
