1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My Vogue Bell Sleeve Jacket on: August 18, 2007 09:30:59 PM
I just finished my Bell Sleeve Jacket from Vogue Knitting Holiday 2006 and I am really pleased with how it turned out.

Actually I'm more like extremely excited. I really like how this one looks.
I used 7 skeins of Cascade 220 color #8234 pistachio with size 6 needles. I started on 6/16/07 and finished the knitting on 8/13/07. I really enjoyed knitting this one. It had the right amount of cables, bobbles and shaping to keep me interested. I like how the bobbles are shaped like little leafs (or candle flames) and I really like the placement of the cables and how the ribs join into cables at the waist and then separate out into ribs again. I made a couple of modifications to the pattern. I changed the lower edge from a plain garter stitch type edge to a k4p4 edge to match that of the collar and sleeves. I also didn't make a knit belt like the pattern called for. Instead I added 6 buttons and crochet button loops and made it into more of a cardigan.

I love how the Cascade 220 really lets the cables stand out. I'm a real fan of this yarn and plan on using their superwash version for my next project.
I have a couple more photos and detailed descriptions of how I made my modifications, and the errors I think I came across on my blog.
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / red heart luster sheen for socks?? on: July 31, 2007 02:10:04 PM
I have a couple skeins of Red Heart Luster Sheen sport weight yarn. I was wondering if this yarn would be ok to use to knit socks. It's 100% acrylic. Would this work as a sock yarn? Or would it not hold up well enough.
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Loon Sweater on: July 28, 2007 10:11:51 PM
I've finally finished my Loon Sweater. I started it many years ago and then set it aside. Recently I got it out and finished it. I hesitated to show it here as it's a bit, how do I say it....dated I guess. But what the heck. I still like it. I figured some fellow knitters may be interested to see it. I think it turned out well for what it is. It was my first attempt at using different colors and it also has some duplicate stitch. I used Plymouth Encore Chunky and the yellow is Lion Brand Chunky USA. It was a bit stiff but after washing it got really quite soft to my surprise. The pattern is from a Bernat "ewe can knit" pattern pamphlet #1806.

4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Finished my Apricot Jacket on: July 16, 2007 11:30:46 PM
I finished my Apricot Jacket (from Rebecca #27) and I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. I first came across this knit here on craftster's completed projects board, then I found the knitalong thread. I was smitten and had to make one for myself. I started mine in April 07 and finished in June 07. I had to order more yarn to complete the seaming and button loops. I used 5 skeins Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece in the color Prairie Lupine and size 6 needles.

I managed to find buttons that matched the yarn perfectly (there is a close up of them on my July 17 blog post). I like the look of just the four buttons. I skipped the crochet edge and just did crochet button loops. I'm pretty happy with the fit and the look of this one.
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Wandering Aran Fields Cape on: January 21, 2007 05:13:08 PM
Hi, I just finished the Wandering Aran Fields cape from the Wrap Style book and thought I'd show it here. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.

I used Cascade 220 yarn. I really liked this pattern. This is the second project I've made from the Wrap Style book. I also made the Shetland Triangle shawl.
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / color cards on: October 17, 2006 09:18:32 PM
Does anyone know of an online store that sells color cards for aurora 8 and or cascade 220 yarns?
