1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Stitches versus rows? on: September 27, 2007 05:10:58 PM
I am working on a pattern where it tells me to knit until I reach 72 stitches.  Does this mean 72 stitches on the needle or 72 rows?
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Help! Can't knit two strands together. on: September 06, 2007 12:24:45 PM
I am a new knitter and I am having a hard time knitting two seperate strands together.  I can't seem to hold on to them and knit at the same time.  I want to get over this phobia as I am planning on knitting a scarf alternating between two colors.  Any advice?
3  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Kid name signs for bedroom doors. on: October 20, 2006 05:28:25 AM
I made these name signs for my bf's son and daughter.  We are planning on buying a home soon and I thought that they would be cute to put on their bedroom doors.  I decoupaged the background and painted the wooden letters.  I used scrapbook 3d tape dots to raise the letters from the board. For the Alex sign I used a map of Alaska that I had from my trip there this past summer. My bf is from AK and his kids visit their grandparents there every summer.  For the Emily sign I used some scrapbook postcard sized sheets in colors that she likes.

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Elastic band help. on: October 03, 2006 06:11:20 AM
Yesterday I made a pair of pj bottoms for my bf.  He tried them on and they were great except that the waist was too big.  I think it may be the elastic that I bought for the waistband.  Other than taking it out and replacing it what can I do to make them fit better?  I thought about taking in the sides slightly but the fabric with the elastic is too thick to sew.  Any ideas?  Thanks.
5  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects / My version of the duro top. on: September 29, 2006 05:42:00 AM

I just finished this last nite. It's from hotpatterns.com.  Its a knock off of a blouse that I saw online.

Excuse the tp in the background.  I shot this using my camerphone in my bathroom.

I do intend on tackling the duro dresss next.  Cool
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / How do I add snaps? on: September 27, 2006 11:48:55 AM
I am making a few one piece jumpers for a friend who just had twins.  I was looking at the pattern and realized that I dont know how to add the snaps.  I bought them and saw on the package that I needed a hammer.  Before I try something and ruin the jumper I thought I would ask here.  How do I add them?
7  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Sleeve help. on: September 08, 2006 08:17:58 AM
I am currently working on the following pattern:

I am making the "light blue" version with short sleeves.  I sewed one sleeve on last nite and tried it on. It's a bit too tight for me, I have a problem raising my arm.  What can I do to get a little more room?  I was thinking about not sewing the sleeve the whole way up and leaving a little flap open (under the arm).  I am not a big fan of leaving the flap open on top of the arm cause I hate my arms.  What would you think if I made a bigger sleeve cap and then shirred it slightly into the sleeve?

8  UNITED STATES / New Jersey / Good fabric stores in SJ? on: September 05, 2006 10:08:59 AM
Does anyone know of a good fabric store in SJ?  I am in the Moorestown area and I am looking for an alternative to Jo-ann's or RagShop.
9  Pennsylvania / Pennsylvania: Southeast / Philadelphia Area Knit Out and Crochet 9/10/06 on: August 22, 2006 10:13:17 AM
Just wanted to pass this on:

The fifth annual Philadelphia Area Knit Out and Crochet event will be held Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Center City Philadelphia.

A celebration of the needle arts of knitting and crocheting, the event attracts hundreds of enthusiasts every year. The event will feature beginning knitting and crochet lessons, a fashion show promenade, lessons in a variety of knit and crochet techniques, door prizes and an opportunity to donate hand-made items to two charities.

This year, needlesmiths are asked to help make a difference for a child in need.  They are asked to make and donate a small blanket or stuffed animal to District Attorney Lynne Abraham’s Urban Genesis program, whereby police distribute these items when they find small children in chaotic circumstances, as they investigate domestic cases.

In addition, hand-made hats, mittens and scarves are requested for City Councilwoman Blondell Reynolds Brown’s Warmth In Winter Holiday Drive.  This annual program distributes hundreds of warm items to homeless children in need across the city during the winter.

For information about the day, how to make donations or information about volunteer opportunities, contact Gwen Agard, 215-928-9960, PhilaAreaKnitOut@aol.com
