 and the dress was a recon from a skirt I never wore (and never planned on wearing)...I wish I could take all the credit for the ruffles, but all I did was a few simple seams.  We didn't go anywhere (well, I went out after she fell asleep and left her with her dad ), this was pretty much just for a photo shoot so she could have a *real* first halloween costume.

its a late reply, but this is what I did for dia de los muertos last year when I was pregnant:


I just used felt and pinned it onto a black dress....I was in a rush to get it done (last min.) but it could look better with planning.
