1  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects / Spring Wreath - William Sonoma inspired on: March 21, 2009 07:42:07 PM
I was looking at catalogs today and I saw these two wreaths from William Sonoma and I really liked them but thought they were crazy expensive.  So I went up to the craft store and spent about $10 and my my own version, which is a little of both of these.  I'm really excited with how this turned out and I wanted to share.  (It's been FOREVER since I was crafty and I didn't realize how much I missed it until today)

OMG!!! I want to be in this swap!!!  I'm so excited about the new movie coming out!

I have a red headed chihuahua named Scully Smiley  I'm a huge fan of this show...I've been searching for a "new" X-Files ever since it went off the air...so far only BBC's Torchwood has come close!

8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Mighty Boosh Hitcher ornament with tut on: December 23, 2007 02:07:56 PM
I was thinking of making the pattern bigger to make this into a  lil ipod or cell phone cozy, but I think Old Gregg would be more fun for that Smiley
9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Mighty Boosh Hitcher ornament with tut on: December 23, 2007 09:17:59 AM
I signed up for a Mighty Boosh swap and I was so excited that I started crafting projects for me ahead of time Smiley  I made a Hitcher ornament for our tree

Finished version

Image of the half finished version all laid out

If you want to download the pattern I posted it on my website here
http://jbartistic.com/tut/hitcher_pattern.pdf

Needed:
  • Felt in black, green and white
  • small white beads
  • embroidery floss or thread
  • needles
  • yarn for hair

Directions: (this is my first tut so if I missed anything let me know)
1. Cut out all the felt pieces

2. Embroider the face and add beads to embellish the hat

3. Sew yarn onto the white felt piece that holds the hair, you can see this in the getting ready to assemble pic.  I used the sewing machine for this part since no one will be able to see where the hair is sewn on.

3. Sew the hair piece to the back of the head aligning the tops.

4. Cut off the excess white feltI had left the extra on just to make it easier to work with.

5. Sew the front face to the back of the head.  I used a blanket stitch.

6. Blanket stitch the sides and top of the back and front pieces of the hat together, leaving the bottom of the hat open. (If you want to add a loop to hang the ornament add it now.  I just sewed a loop to the back of the hat before putting the hat together.)

7. Put the hitchers head into his hat between the front and back of the hat. Make sure the hat is down enough to cover the stitching of the hair.  I just machine sewed this part so it would be less noticeable than continuing the blanket stitchreally it is all personal preference.

Please let me know if you have any questions!
