Slowly getting there, problem is this is for me, so it keeps getting shoved to the back burner, but I love this stitch pattern :-)

3  Re: Lose this stupid weight swap! in The Swap Gallery by mintlatte on: April 09, 2007 12:14:19 PM
Hey I received :-)

This poor box decided to take a fairly long detour in getting to me... thanks to a wickedly strange mailman....
who delivered it to a neighbor, who was on vacation, but whose mother picked it up, only to be retrieved
by said neighbor and delivered late into the night Easter Sunday.  First time I have ever received US mail on a
Sunday, let alone EASTER Sunday :-)

Anyhoo, I tend to get very lucky with my swaps, and this time was no exception.
I received a fantastic storage pouch with a psychedelic tummy..., a very adorable journal
(I notice the journal has its eyes on my lunch..... this worries me.....), and one unmistakably clever altered pedometer......

4  Cute Booties in Knitting: Completed Projects by mintlatte on: April 02, 2007 11:38:47 AM
Ok I feel silly for even posting these, but I can't help it!! I am so new to this knitting thing, and I love it!
So my knitting history to date is:
Calorimetry (x2)
then I made me some worsted weight socks...
Then I got carried away and made a baby sweater (no finished pics yet, it is blocking) and finally, this sunday I made THESE... these are my favorite so far! I just love them!  They are from Knit Simple magazine (so is the sweater I made) and would not be here except for the magazine has a great picture by picture tutorial for them!!!!
anyhoo... enough babble :-)

I sent a yoga mat bag, a food journal, a water bottle carrier and a gym towel with a zippered pocket on it for locker keys or other small nonsuch :-)

and a close up of the journal....

and since DD modeled and she insists... Yoga mat bag in action :-)

6  Re: New Knitty's Calorimetry in Knitalongs by mintlatte on: March 05, 2007 06:44:33 PM
OK, this particular post is very important to me.

Because I have knit something.  For the first time this something is NOT a scarf, and even more importantly, it is not fun fur.
Fiber snobs cover your ears, it is red heart :-)

This is my Calorimetry. From knitty.com.  A real pattern.
What makes this the best knitted thing ever? I did it.  I swatched, I figured out I only needed 100 stitches to go around my fat noggin.  I figured out what size needles....I cast on no less than five times....I knit wrong and it was horrid, but I studied videos and picture books till I got it right.....on the fifth try I knit until I had this wonderful thing of greenness that looked horrible with my hair.  I wore it anyway (thankfully, four year olds are proud of their mommies, even when the rest of us know she looks silly with her hair hanging out like that!!!!)
I even wore it to check out a new yarn store....and the owner complimented me... she said my knitting looked lovely!!!!!AND when I told her it was my first thing that wasn't a scarf...she said she never would have guessed..... SO here my friends is my little bit of knitting triumph.  I have purchased a skein of alpaca to celebrate and to try again.... I only twisted two stitches... and I had to undo some stitches to go back and fix purls where there should have been knits.... all in all I am far to proud of this simple thing... yet I can not help but have visions of sweaters dance in my head.  (a knit sweater takes SOO much less yarn, it can make even the good stuff seem economical!)
Sigh.  See what you all have done to me!!!!!

(you have to scroll down a little....)

My favorite part is the banana....I thought the outline would make it a little bare, so I filled it in with a seed stitch, and its just looks so banana-ish :-)

Because I can, I made these cute buttons....all Sublime from the book :-)
These are the snap together buttons you can buy at the craft store, and I kind of did a  "yo-yo" around the back....I think they turned out way better than I though they would :-)
