Thanks so much for the advice, will definitely up the EO a notch and see if that helps. I'll keep you posted!
13  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: The random soapy babble thread on: May 28, 2010 07:38:01 AM
Hey! really new to soapmaking but i've made about 4 batches so far. I love how they've come out but I have a huge problem with the fragrance part of it. I would prefer to use essential oils seeing as these are primarily for personal use and gifts. However, no matter how much EO i use (different types, orange, neroli, patchouli, jasmine etc) the soap still has a peculiar musty smell of its own which never really goes away. I'm wondering if this is a an issue with the lye flakes itself but I'm hoping it's something within my control because I have no other options to get my lye. I use upto 4 tsp of EO for every 500 gms of soap made. I usually use a mix of coconut, soybean, olive oil and cocoa butter, the coconut and cocoa butter being the predominant oils (make upto 50% of the oils)

I hope this query is in the right spot!

LOL.. the first thing I thought of was Pudge in Warcraft DOTA - when he growls 'AAAHHHH FRRRESHHH MEAAAT!' as he sups on another hero. These would do so great for warcraft gamers as pudge soap.

16  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Beautiful Linen Napkins - Wedding Gift on: December 21, 2008 08:30:56 PM
I bought (really expensive!) linen , 80/120 thread count and cut them up to make table napkins. Just a simple crochet edging and monogrammed with the couple's common initial.

This was surprisingly simple but took the better part of two days to make half a dozen napkins.

Please let me know what you guys think. I might actually include these as an item in a craft bazaar or something, I really think they're quite pretty. But of course, I'm biased hehheheh!

it hurt like hell.. especially because it wasn't true. I took it out on m-seal.

20  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / pretty little fairy - first .. ok.. well.. FIFTH time with clay on: October 30, 2008 10:22:22 AM
I don't have polymer clay , we use something called m - seal, which is a white epoxy compound. I used acrylic to paint the fairy. Can you see the little flower she's sitting on? I'm not too happy with the finishing, would a coat of white glue help make it look a little better. I'm primarily a crocheter but i spent three days on making this one and I can't stop looking at it! What do you guys think?
