1  Bluebird embroidery in Sublime Stitching Embroidery by agabbard on: August 15, 2007 08:26:25 PM
Hello everyone!

I just finished embroidering the bird pattern from Jenny Hart's Stitch-it Kit. I'm pleased with the way it turned out. Embroidering the word was a little tricky, so I decided to write the letters instead with a fabric pen.

For the finishing touch I put it in a shabby white frame, and I'm going to hang it in my bathroom.

Thanks for looking Smiley

2  Decoupaged hat boxes in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by agabbard on: August 09, 2007 05:55:06 PM
I found these two wooden hat boxes on clearance about a year ago. They had a country apple motif on the lid that I wasn't to fond of. My mom suggested I decoupage them with images from magazines and cards. One box I decoupaged with floral and feminine pictures. On the other box I used darker pictures of animals and nature. Here are the final products!

3  New upholstery + new paint= chic dining chairs! in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by agabbard on: August 02, 2007 09:18:09 AM
I found these four white dining chairs at a yard sale for ten bucks a piece. They needed a new coat of paint, which was fine, I've painted furniture before. But the challenge for these chairs was reupholstering them. They had a hideous red vinyl cover over some very old foam. I took them home, gave them a new coat of white paint and began upholstering. I found the green paisley fabric at Joann fabrics. These chairs are small, chic, and perfect for my new apartment. I'm really happy with the way they turned out!

4  Framed Embroidery in Needlework: Completed Projects by agabbard on: August 02, 2007 09:09:31 AM
My second finished embroidery project!

I started by tea staining a piece of plain pink material. I let the material soak in tea over night. After the cloth dried, I wrote the word cherish lightly with a pencil on the material. Then I embroidered the letters with brown embroidery thread. The leaf motif is a pattern from Jenny Hart's Stitch-it Kit.

I think I'm going to give it to my future mother-in-law for her birthday!

I completed my first embroidery project! I embroidered a cake and tea cup on a tea towel. I tried to be creative with the colors. I'm just glad I actually FINISHED a project!
