Good to know about the feather dyeing.

For some reason I always envisioned Lola's dress as being yellow too, but there's nothing in the song to suggest that. Just the feathers.

And now I want to Cha Cha... and Merengue ....

She's sassy looking!

Is this her new look, after decades of "wearing yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there"?
3  California / California: North / Re: NEW Crafting Group in the East Bay area? on: June 03, 2007 11:06:38 PM
There is an Oakland Crafts MeetUp Group that meets every Sunday afternoon from 2-5 at cafes in and around Oakland. Next week we're having a New Member MeetUp in Alameda, geared towards people who have never visited, although everyone is welcome. I just posted a thread about that for the calender. The third Sunday of every month we meet at the Church of Craft meetings at Rock Paper Scissors in Oakland.

It's a drop-in group, all crafts welcome. Some of our regular attendees knit, needle felt, and make sock monkeys.

Updates of where we are next meeting can always be found at http://craftswap.meetup.com/11/

I don't see a photo of the dress here. Am I just lame? Is there a link in the message I'm missing? I love polka dots!

What a cute little zombie! He could probably use a hug. Looks like his company has a crummy dental plan.

The shirt logo is a priority mail sticker from the post office. The assorted USA fabrics were some unfinished quilt pieces I bought in a box lot at a yard sale. And the bike I got recently from my pal Bubba, (of Bubba's Sock Drawer,) when he was having a little sock monkey garage sale. The pedals and wheels really turn with the chain.

Thank you. It's fun to be amongst so many terrific sock monkey entries here.

Thank you.

That is a real priority mail sticker on his shirt, since the USPS was one of Lance's sponsors. The action shot with the same background as Lance is the only Photoshop magic. The other photos are exactly as he posed. Suprisingly, nobody on my block found it strange to see a sock monkey riding a bike down the sidewalk with no hands on the bars.

Or would that be Lance SockStrong...

Seven time Tour de France winner, cancer survivor, and all round good guy.

This classic American red heel monkey is wearing all new clothing designed specifically for him, including the USA patchwork cap and the black with red dots Sidi bike shoes (like Lance wears).

He's always extra careful to keep his tail away from the spokes and bike chain.

And wears his protective bike gloves to keep from getting blisters, or wearing out his knit.

I've been a lurker here for awhile even though some of my friends are here (howdy!) but this challenge inspired me to finally join and post.
