1  ASIA / Japan / Himeji? on: August 07, 2008 09:57:41 AM
Does anyone know anything about the city of Himeji?  The only info I've been able to find is about the castle.  I'm moving there in about three weeks and would love to know about any good thrift stores, cheapie ways to get furniture, and (of course) fabulous fabric/crafty stores!  I especially like sewing and embroidery, but I also crochet.

If there isn't much in Himeji, information about surrounding cities would also help.  Thanks!

So gorgeous and professional-looking!  This is better than a magazine transformation.  What an inspiring place to work!
3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Dark Lilac? on: July 28, 2008 09:16:54 AM
Hello all,

So sorry if this has been addressed already - a couple of searches brought up nothing for me.

Does anyone know what has been going on with darklilac.com's cross-stitch generator?  It was my favorite cross-stitch resource a couple of years ago, and now it looks like the whole site is down.  Does anyone know if it will return in the near future?  If not, are there any similar free generators online that you use and like?  I searched on Google and found a couple, but some required downloading things and I wasn't sure if they were trustworthy or not.

Thanks, darlings!

Adorable ewe and gorgeous stitches.  That is a real lesson in patience!  And it turned out so well!  I agree with another poster who said that it would make the perfect motif for a knitting bag.

I LOVE THIS!!  "Lay down the Tetris law"...hahaha

My brother and I love to play Tetris on the arcade machine at our favorite bar (the inimitable Bob's Java Jive).  This exact scenario led to his downfall/my triumph during our last round.  I'm sending him a link to your awesome cross-stitch!  So genius!
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Wedding dress to LBD - but have I done the right thing? on: July 14, 2008 11:24:10 AM
Oh, I love this...please don't take the flowers off, as a few people have suggested!  I think the flowers are what really make the dress interesting and unique.  I also like the way the triangle of flowers complements the a-line skirt.  So pretty!

Congratulations to you & your husband!

That looks amazing!  What a good idea.

SO adorable!  It looks fantastic on you!  Now you need to have someone take pictures of you at the beach, holding a beach ball or eating ice cream on a boardwalk or something.  Reminds me of some pretty old photos I saw once at Coney Island.  Beautiful work!
9  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: The Times They Are A-changin'/ Bob Dylan Afghan on: May 28, 2008 09:34:22 AM
Everything you make is amazing!!  I don't know if I can pick a favorite, but this is definitely up there.  The red and white contrast is beautiful.  And I love, LOVE the two different Dylans.  Fabulous!

I love this dress...what a gorgeous design.  Is the collar detachable? I would love to see it modeled by a real person!
