11  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Ribbon & Felt Flower Pin Cushion on: April 04, 2005 07:31:41 PM
I made this today... when I should have been doing other things... out of ribbon and felt scraps. I think it turned out pretty darn cute, don't you think?

I'm thinking about possibly selling them... my question is, how much would you pay for one?

Try bravenet.com. It's free, and has some decent and easy templates. Plus, it's only $5 a month if you ever want to upgrade (and get your own domain, more design templates, etc. etc.) Good luck!
13  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Citrus Apron on: March 24, 2005 06:04:02 PM
I just finished this apron, it's going to be a present for my grandma. It's made from a salmon cotton fabric, with bright orange print cotton pockets (the bottom one is pleated!). Hope you like it!

Thanks everyone! I found the fabric at a little local fabric store in California - very cute little shop, but quite pricey. This just happened to be on the sale rack - only $4.00 a yard! I love it when that happens. Smiley And the pattern is my own creation.

As far as the photography - I wrote a "brief" (or not) article about taking professional looking photos without a professional. Check it out if you're interested:

Thanks again! Smiley

I finished this one over spring break. I am so unbelievably in love with this fabric - I'm kicking myself for only buying one yard. Anyway... hope you like it, let me know what you think!

It's not that complex... basically put together in the same fashion as a jordy, just bigger. Smiley

It's a michael miller cotton print - I love his stuff, but this is one of my fav's.

That's really cute

Question: Did you use anything on the back or edges of your flower to keep it from unraveling?

No... I thought it was cool when it is floppy and frayed - gives it character. I may put some fraycheck around the edges of the petals if it starts to fray too badly though.

Thanks everyone! Smiley I agree about the neutrals - bright colors are definitely the way to go!

The white background came from a white piece of posterboard and a bit of tweaking in photoshop.  I posted a tutorial on the switchboards if you're interested:

Thanks again!

thanks everyone! I'm so in love with it - I'm really reluctant to sell this one... but I'm broke, so ha. It's a new pattern I was testing out - my old style totes were way to complex, so I figured out a quicker way to do pretty much the same thing.

As for the fabric - I can't remember where I got it, I've had it for so long. It's a Michael Miller print (I love his stuff!).

Thanks again! Smiley
