12  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Did you miss out on the Altoid Swap Round 6?? on: June 17, 2007 04:21:32 PM
Ooh, I'm definately interested. The high standard of past tins is a bit intimidating but I'd still give it a lash.

That looks really pretty! I must say I wasn't keen on the pattern when I first saw it but I guess it only takes one FO to change my mind Cheesy
14  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Doing it in public: Leave me alone and let me knit! on: June 17, 2007 03:50:11 PM
I also hate it when people stare at whatever I'm doing.

I completely agree! I don't mind if people ask what I'm knitting, but then again, I've only ever had actual knitters who are really interested talk to me. It's when people stare at me waiting for that second head to emerge I get just a litle bit ticked off. On the train home this week a woman watched me knit for 4 hours! 4 whole hours. It was downright creepy.

I was walking by my LYS yesterday, minding my own business, when some assorted balls of pink yarn leapt down from the shelf and begged me to take them home with me. Well, I could hardly refuse... And now I definately can't wait to get started!
16  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Callling All College Knitters! on: June 14, 2007 03:37:24 AM
I learned to knit from my nan when I was 8 but I only moved past my garter stitch scarf phase when I started college and lived near some great yarn shops.

I don't knit at all during the college day. I'm studying engineering and have to take a ridiculous amount of notes. My class is also relatively small, about 80 people, so the lecturers wouldn't appreciate the distraction. I'm unstoppable when at home though. This year one of my roomies always came home to find me knitting. I became known as the chick who's never without her sticks to all her friends.

It's been much harder to strike a balance between the yarn and other expenses this year. I was living with my oldest brother which meant less money spent on bills and groceries. Then the git packed up and moved to Brazil. How inconsiderate... Tongue He did leave me with a large amount of cardboard boxes to hold my stash though.

I've never found anyone else knitting on campus but I did snag myself a knitting buddy this year. One of my friends brought his girlfriend to one of my parties where she saw me knitting. Turns out she's also an avid knitter and lives down the road from me o we're always KIPing and going on yarn expeditions. I haven't made it to the Dublin SnB yet on account of college but it'll happen someday. Honest...

Ooh, this sounds like a great swap. If no one else can organise I'd love to do it. I think I have an organising addiction... Roll Eyes
