1  Settlers of Catan Blanket in Crochet: Completed Projects by Jaeda on: December 21, 2011 08:23:11 PM
Hi all!

I often lurk here but never seem to finish projects and get to post them, so I am absolutely thrilled that I have FINALLY finished my epic saga of making my boyfriend a blanket and get to share it with you all!

My friends and I like board games and a few years ago we got into Settlers of Catan (http://www.catan.com/) and I thought I would make my boyfriend a blanket. I have no idea what possessed me, since while I do love crafting, I was going back to school for nursing and really, really, really could not be counted on to finish a project.

Anyway, it was done with single crochet since this is my second crochet project ever and when I started (almost 2 years ago) I didn't actually know how to make any other crochet stitches haha.

Hope you enjoy the pictures!

This is the whole blanket as it is now. I still have to weave in the ends, and I have plans for an additional 12 blue water tiles to put on four sides to make it more rectangular. But, I REALLY wanted him to see it finally, and I promised he'd get it in time for Christmas!  Cheesy

This is the blanket on our bed with our dog Frisket. Isn't he cute?

An in-progress picture of a few tiles after edging them in white

A trial run of how the colours worked out next to each other. I liked it!

Now all I need to do is make oversized village and town pieces and miniature scarves that pretend to be roads. That works, right?

Questions/comments are definitely welcome!

2  Re: Canadian small envelope swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by Jaeda on: November 01, 2010 07:56:46 PM
Yay! My envelope came in the mail today! What a WONDERFUL thing to come home to after a super busy weekend and an even busier day at work! Cealy, you are FANTASTIC!

I must apologize in advance for the crappy pictures, I forgot my real camera at my boyfriend's house and I honestly couldn't wait to get it before I posted pictures, so hopefully the pics from my phone won't be too terrible!

This is the group shot of everything! How on earth did you fit it into the envelope?! I'm amazed!

This is the collection of bug cards. I absolutely love them! I can't wait to get little frames for them and they will go right over my computer. Bugs are great!

This one is my favorite bug card. It's so hard to believe nature can produce such amazing colours!

Then there's the post card of Cealy's hometown, and a beautiful "Believe" in gold wire, and some cabone rings as well. I've already found a lovely little crochet pattern to make snowflakes with the rings, so guess what I'll be doing over the x-mas break? Hurray!

Here are some patterns for some really lovely winter wear, can't wait to get started on these! It's a shame I can't crochet or knit at work, it'd be such a good use of time. Doubt my boss would like that though!

This is the coolest! It's a phone holder with a pocket on the back for my ID and health card, and a clip for my keys. I told Cealy I was getting into running, and she made this for me. I thought she bought it until I read the note that came with the package! I absolutely love the embroidered K on the front. My real name is Kendra, but everyone just calls me K so I love it Cheesy

Cealy also made me a beautiful bookmark since I'm notorious for folding down the corners of my books. I just got a few new paperbacks this weekend, so now they will be kept in pristine condition! Isn't it beautiful? I love the stones at the bottom!

I told Cealy I was going as Kat Von D for Halloween, so she went out and found me the coolest fake tattoo sleeves and temporary tattoos for my costume! Unfortunately the envelope didn't get here until today (thanks Canada Post!) but my friends and I have lots of costume parties during the year, so I will definitely be using them before long! The sleeves are really cool!

This is a close up of one of the sleeves just to show how neat it is.

I had SUCH a great time finding and making things for this swap, and the excitement of getting a puffy package in the mail will never, ever get old! Thanks so much Belladune for organizing everything, and a HUGE thank you to Cealy for my gifties! I love them all!

3  Macro Challenge: Aphid on a Rose Stem in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Jaeda on: May 04, 2008 06:22:06 PM
This is my first challenge entry. It's taken with my 35mm Olympus OM2, using the "poor man's lens" technique of metering and focusing, then carefully removing the lens and holding it backwards to the camera and moving back and forth until it focuses right. It's really fun, but the depth of field is SO small! It's not intended to be a super-clear macro photo; more abstract and alien.

Without further ado, I present: Aphid on a Rose Stem
