1  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions / Re: It's either me or the squirrel.... on: May 05, 2009 12:36:11 PM
I agree with the chili powder idea, but I would use cayenne powder. It's spicier. Birds can't taste "spicy" so the seasoning doesn't affect them, but it's unpleasant for a mammal. They may try to open the bird feeder a couple more times after you fill it with the new bird seed, but they will quickly learn that your spicy bird seed isn't worth the effort.
2  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: ~Challenge ~Now through Feb 18!~ on: February 03, 2009 03:34:25 PM
I am planning on entering. I have two batches in mind. I'll probably make both of them and enter the one that works best.
3  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Can I use this particular FO? on: January 29, 2009 06:03:13 PM
Cinnamon EO can be irritating on skin, but an FO should be fine as long as it's approved for use in soap.
4  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: HP Soap Questions on: January 26, 2009 11:56:56 AM
I've seen some really beautiful HP soaps. Done really well they can look like CP poured at a thick trace. It takes a lot of practice. I heard on another forum that adding some salt to your lye water can help it stay thinner and makes for a smoother product. I've never tried that but maybe it will help.
The "cure" time for HP soap is mostly to let some of the water evaporate out so the bar lasts longer.
5  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Is anyone interested in a B&B swap? on: January 23, 2009 06:56:06 PM
I'd love to swap! I've never done a Craftster swap. Mostly because all I do is CP soap and it takes longer to cure than most swaps provide.
6  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: soapmaking on: January 15, 2009 07:05:03 AM
Yup, I would use ground coffee rather than instant
7  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Bath and Beauty Challenges--YOUR input needed! on: January 12, 2009 04:42:57 PM
I'm excited! I've never done a Craftster challange before.
8  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Butter Cream (Lush) Recipe? on: January 12, 2009 06:43:55 AM
Looking at the ingredient list it appears to be a CP soap with a high superfat and extra glycerine. It would probably need some preservatives to stop it from going rancid.
9  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: S.O.S-- CANT GET MY SOAPS OUT OF THEIR MOLDS! on: December 22, 2008 03:53:43 PM
You said you used a pop can. Did you line it with anything? Are these CP or M&P soaps? Lye reacts with aluminum. If these are CP soaps they could have fused to the can and may not be useable.
10  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Lactose-Intolerance and cookies. on: December 16, 2008 08:23:31 PM
No, eggs don't have lactose. People can be allergic to eggs, but it's a totally different allergy than lactose intolerance.
