11  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Battle Royale cosplay... on: August 01, 2006 04:11:33 PM
My friend asked me to do Battle Royale cosplay with her, and I finally got up and made my costume. I don't feel like putting buttons on it. Seriously, I don't trust my sewing machine anymore. And I can't find plain tan buttons anywhere! (not joann's, not hancock, not michaels, not walmart! gah!)

But, this took me like... 2 weeks to make I guess. Actually, more like one week broken up into parts. What I like best is the skirt. I like the outfit because I can just take away the gun and neck thing and wear it anywhere.

12  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Silly hats Only! on: August 01, 2006 02:08:50 PM
So me and my friends are going to dress up at Otakon for a day wearing silly hats...

I made mine with this fabric remnant I got at Joann's for 90% off! So I got like a yard of that fuzzy fabric for about 30 cents!

Here's my silly hat.

I bought a blow up bat at the dollar store... it's awesome, four feet long, and with giant smilies on it. An awesome bat is essential to weed out those who do not have silly hats.

13  UNITED STATES / Delaware / Re: Delaware knit/crochet roll call! on: July 12, 2006 06:25:06 AM
Oh wow, all these UDel knitsters. I'll have to find you guys sometime when I get there this fall.

Michaels stinks for me because I work there, and know when everything is on sale... So I buy so many things I don't need. The only other yarn store close to me is in PA, and I'm 99% sure they are incredibly overpriced on everything there and I'd be better off buying my yarn online with shipping costs...
14  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Harry Potter Scarf Knit-Along? on: July 12, 2006 06:15:15 AM
I think I'll make a PoA Hufflepuff scarf. I made a flece Hufflepuff scarf before, and it's pretty lame looking and falling apart. But it is pretty warm.
15  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Heavy Metal Band on: June 28, 2006 08:23:28 PM
This is an etching I made of my favorite Japanese rock band, Dir En Grey.

I made this in my art class this year. It took me a whole 8 weeks to make...
I thought it was copper, because it tarnished a bit, but it was "new gold" which looks just like copper when they are both new and shiney, and apparently new gold doesn't etch very easily...
I etched it with an etching solution using a lot of paint pen to block out the solution when making layers.
The frame was made with stamped nickle siver which was rivoted together.

It was based off of this image.
16  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: chopstick/dowel knitting needle tutorial on: June 28, 2006 01:02:59 PM
I tried to make circular needles once... I cut a plastic hanger and made the ends pointed, and then I tried to get the string in between. I drilled holes in the other ends and used nylon string. I tried to melt the hanger and the strings together.

But that didn't work. I just ended up making the house smell and burning my fingers pretty bad...
